Hot Soup -- gluten-free -- in Wyoming, Michigan

Where to go on a cold, winter day? Go to Zoup for a warm, tasty bowl of gluten free soup. Zoup always has at least one gluten free soup available and maybe two soups to choose from. They also can make a salad for you with fresh greens and they have two gluten free dressings: ranch and caesar. The gluten free soups are made in their own separate area to avoid cross contamination. Tomato basil and a hearty bean soup were offered when we were there so we bought one container of each and shared the taste experience. Both were very tasty but we really enjoyed the tomato basil. Enjoy the soup there or take it home to enjoy later.

A New Gluten Free Pizza Place in Jenison, Michigan

Reviewer: Glutenfreegr from Hudsonville, MI, USA

Just heard about a new place that offers a gluten free pizza. I just had to stop in and try it. I talked to the manager and learned that the crust comes frozen on its own baking sheet. The crust is thawed and then the toppings are added. The toppings come fresh from the refrigerator so there is no chance for cross contamination. The pizza is a 12 inch crust and the cost is whatever the gluten 14 inch pizza of the same flavor would cost. The manager stated they are trying to get chicken strips and gluten free sub buns to be able to offer more items. Not all of the Peppino's offer gluten free options yet. Take out and Take and Bake are also available. Their menu states that they are willing to accommodate other food allergies as well. I ordered the Hawaiian Delight. It was very tasty but the crust was a little overdone.

If you are tired of reading labels on everything you buy at the grocery store, you must go to Saffrons A Gluten Free Marketplace. EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING is gluten-free. I suppose you could even say that the freedom from having to read labels is the 'vacation' here as you get supplies for you family meal. This store has over 900 different items that you can choose from for breakfast, lunch, dinner. If you want yummy and nutritious snacks and desserts, you can find lots to choose from. There are crackers, cookies, luscious looking chocolate cake, granola bars, and much more. If you want to do your own baking, everything you need you can find here. Rachael DenHerder, who with her husband owns this store, can help you find what you need and is willing to offer suggestions. Udi's breads, Ener-G Crackers, pizza crust and prepared pizzas, popcorn, Conte's Stuffed Shells with Marinara Sauce (wonderfully tasty) - just a few things I have enjoyed. They do not carry any fresh fruit or produce. The store opened the first of May, 2010 and this May, 2011 they hope to offer internet shopping. Every Saturday is "Sample Saturday" with samples of many products available. They are on Facebook: Saffrons A Gluten Free Marketplace. I'm sure you will find something to enjoy if you shop at this store.

Outstanding gluten-free restaurant dining in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Dining at the Outback means no worries that the food you order will contain gluten. They have a wonderful gluten-free menu will produce a number of great meals to choose from. The wait staff knew what we meant about needing a gluten-free meal. The manager spoke with us at some length about their food preparation processes, of the training that the staff goes though, and the steps that the chef uses to prevent cross contamination. I enjoyed a rack of ribs with baked potato and completed the meal with their wonderful dessert, Thunder Down Under, a flourless brownie, topped with ice cream, fudge sauce and whipped cream. It's worth while going here just for this yummy dessert. The Outback also carries the gluten free beer, Redbridge, in fact it was an assistant manager at another outlet who introduced me to this product. Other Outback Steakhouse restaurants in the area include 3333 Century, Ctr. Grandville, MI 616-785-8000 and 3475 Alpine, NW. Walker, MI 616-785-9686. In our experience all are equally sensitive to our gluten-free needs.

Restaurant for gluten-free dining in Grandville, Michigan

It is very satisfying to walk into a restaurant and have no concerns about finding a wonderful selection of gluten free foods to choose from. Everyone from the hostess and wait staff to the chef and manager knew what was needed for someone with Celiac Disease to eat safely as well as very enjoyably. The Gluten Free menu was extensive, but had no pasta options. Salads, soup, fish, steak, chicken entries, starch and veggie sides, and even dessert was listed. A child's options appeared on the menu. Takeout is available. Enjoyed the house salad, Parmesan dressing, no croutons, Sirloin Marsala with garlic mashed potatoes immensely, leaving no room for dessert. My companion enjoyed Chicken Bryan. The friendly atmosphere and pleasant surrounding made this dining experience very satisfying. We went to the outlet in Grandville, MI, a SW suburb of Grand Rapids. Another outlet is located 4061 28th Street SE in Kentwood. 616-940-9865
