Out of the ordinary gluten free dining in Kalispell, Montana

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. If you are on a gluten free diet when eating out, you are probably used to being restricted to certain foods. i.e.: steak, baked potato, steamed veggies...and forget fried foods because almost everyone's fryers have been contaminated with breaded food. This restaurant is not a dedicated facility, however, the staff is very well educated. They have a dedicated fryer so it is possible to have foods you may not often get to have. For example, french fries, prawns and yes, frog legs! Most of their sauces and dressings are made in house, so they know what goes into them. The food is fresh, not pre-packaged. The food was delicious. The restaurant very clean. The staff was very courteous, patient, and efficient. Even though this was our first visit, our server knew most of the other customers on a first name basis. It was so nice to have variety. We enjoyed our meal very much and will definitely be back!

Surprise of gluten free meal in rural Trout Creek, Montana!

It is extremly rare for us to find a restaurant to cater to my husband's diet in rural Montana, so when we "stumbled" on such a great lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant in Trout Creek, I just had to share our experience! We were in town for the "Huckleberry Festival", one of those events where a tiny town grows ten-fold over the weekend. However, my husband spoke to a member of the waitstaff and looked at one of their menus before actually going in. The young lady was well versed, well educated and very accomodating. She was able to answer the all important question: "are your steaks marinated" with a firm no. While there were no actual "gluten free" items on the menu, there were several fresh food options that required very little "tweaking" for my husband to be able to have. The restaurant has a char-broiler (that the chef was happy to scrape clean). My husband chose pork tenderloin strips (char-broiled) and a medly of fresh steamed vegetables all without seasoning. We did not meet the chef, however, he did an outstanding job. We will eat there again if ever back in the area. Overall impression? Very nice, clean, spacious dinnig area. Absolutely wonderful staff! Very reasonable prices. Fresh, great tasting, well prepared food. Something to note for travelers, the restaurant is attached to a motel right on a beautiful lake. We did not stay there, but it looked well kept and clean. I hope you find this helpful. Happy travels, but more importantly, happy eating!
