Very nice property off the strip. None of the 10+ restaurants have a gluten-free menu. Individual servers tried to accommodate my son's gluten allergy, but I got the impression management wasn't on board with the seriousness and importance of providing gluten-free options.

By the end of the second day, he was experiencing symptoms so I can only conclude that try as they might, the Marriott staff were unable to provide us acceptable eating alternatives.

If Marriott can get this important shortcoming corrected, we would like to return.

Local place for GF pizza, which is pretty much the extent of their GF menu items. Eaten there half a dozen times or so. Everyone liked the food - no complaints. Last visit, though, I watched the chef drop the salad tongs on the floor, pick them up, wipe them on his pants, and continue dishing out the salad. Made me wonder. That was our last visit to The Don's. Hesitate drawing any general conclusions about kitchen cleanliness and employee hygiene, but felt the observation met the threshhold to be shared. To go or not to go? Your decision.

Homestead Cookin' and Gluten Free at Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia

Every chef, every waiter, and every host in every restaurant (even the snack bar) understood what gluten free was all about and bent over backwards to accomodate my son.

Every meal had plenty of choices, including gluten free bread/rolls, hamburger buns, cereals, and main dishes of every kind. One morning, the dining room did not have gluten free Chex and the waiter took it on himself to hoof it down to the snack bar to get us a couple boxes. Very nice.

Food and service were first-rate. Prices were, well, pricey -- but not unexpectedly so. I would gladly pay them again for the piece of mind, good service and tasty food we found at The Homestead.

No Gluten Free menu, but everyone was knowledgeable and accomodating. Host took the regular menu and marked the items my son should "stay away from." Even had gluten free soy sauce and lots of eating ideas. Made us feel comfortable and well taken care of.

Good prices. My son (12 yo) likes the motif and the conveyor-belt delivery system. I like it, too! A nice change of pace.
