Gluten-Free in a Culinary Desert -- Restaurant in West Yellowstone, Montana

When you tire of overcooked beef and bison in the cookie-cutter restaurants in West Yellowstone, try the tapas at this new Spanish cafe;, where practically the whole menu is gluten-free (and the rest can be adapted, according to the owner.) Delicious imported cured meats, Mediterranean vegetables roasted simply in virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper, and served with a fried egg on top, and wonderful fried chunks of potatoes served with a spicy tomato sauce made a very satisfying supper. It was all followed by flan drizzled with chocolate sauce and a flourless almond cake. Highly recommended!

The waitress informed us that everything on the menu is prepared from scratch so can be modified for special diets. The Red Curry Beef served with steamed rice and the accompanying Thom Yum soup were a delicious lunch. The Green Curry Chicken was every bit as good. Both are among the very best curries in Knoxville. Once inside, Asia Cafe is a very pleasant place with friendly owners who obviously cherish their customers. Highly recommended.

By asking the right questions, it's possible to get a fine GF meal in many restaurants on HHI. My particular favorites are Red Fish, Marley's, Frankie Bones, and It's Greek to Me. While I eat neither fish nor shellfish (but my non-celiac husband certainly does) I am always able to find satisfying meals at these four.

Bonefish Grill has a GF menu, and many entrees can be prepared properly for celiacs.

P.F. Chang not only has a GF menu, but also maintains a separate GF kitchen! While I find their food rather bland (as does my non-celiac husband) this is a very popular restaurant locally.
