Wonderful gluten free options at this Ashburn, VA restaurant

This restaurant recently opened, and after seeing their very large selection of gluten free options on their gluten fee menu, I was anxious to try it. So last week, my business partner and I went there for lunch. I ordered the Margherita gluten free Neapolitan-style pizza, and he ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. Both were really good. I didn't ask specifically about whether the gluten free pizza crust was house-made, but it definitely wasn't the usual kind you find in restaurants. They cook it in its own pizza pan in a 900 degree Neapolitan pizza oven. No matter what you're in the mood for, you can find it at this restaurant. They offer gluten free diners starters, salads, sandwiches (you can choose from two different types of GF bread), burgers on GF buns, pizzas, gluten free pastas (including a favorite of my son: Fra-Diavolo Di Mare), flat iron steak, and salmon. They even have TWO gluten free desserts...a chocolate torte and chocolate lava cake. I will have to try those when I come back with the whole family! This restaurant even has Prosecco on tap! There are 7 locations, all in Virginia. Here is their gluten free menu: https://bakerscrust.com/files/4214/9366/0439/Spring2017-GlutenFree-BakersCrust.pdf

Gluten free pizza in Rochester, NY

When visiting Rochester, New York recently, we got dinner at Pi Craft Pizza. They use a 1,000 degree oven to quickly cook pizzas that you custom order...sort of like a Chipotle, but for pizza. You choose your sauce and toppings your pizza is ready in a matter of minutes. They have gluten-free crust that comes in its own pan. All the toppings are gluten-free, with the exception of the chicken, which is marinated with something that contains gluten. They even keep a batch of sauce, cheese, and all toppings in a separate area where they prepare the gluten-free pizzas, so there is little risk of cross-contamination. The gluten-free pizza crust is cooked for a few minutes in the pan, then flipped over and topped with your choice of toppings. This twice cooked method results in a GF crust that is actually crispy, not soggy like so many other gluten-free pizzas you get elsewhere. They are very careful about preparation here, always changing their gloves. Also, they don't typically cut the GF pizza unless you ask. In that case, they will use a clean cutter to cut it (or you can use a knife and do it yourself). The pizza turned out great. They have another location in Buffalo.

This restaurant chain now has gluten free buns for burgers

Ruby Tuesday now has gluten free buns for their burgers! Yeah! And, in fact, they have a pretty decent range of gluten free options on their menu. In the restaurant, ask for the binder with the gluten free (and other "allergens") listing. Better yet, take a few minutes to go on to their website to view your options before going. It's well organized...you just have to know where to go to find the GF options. First, click on Menu, and then choose "Allergen Information" from the right hand column. Then you'll be asked to enter your town or zip. Choose your location, which should come up in the listing. Then you click on whatever items you're looking to avoid (gluten, soy, wheat, tree nuts, etc.). Then you can view your options by category. Each category (seafood, steaks, burgers, etc.) has an "Okay to Eat" and "Okay with Modifications" listing. They even have gluten free pasta now, too. Kudos to this national chain for recognizing the gluten free community -- and others dining with other (often multiple) allergens. They make it easy! Just to be clear, I always let the server know to put an allergy alert on the ticket -- that we are gluten free not by choice, but out of necessity.

Gluten free dining in Baltimore's Inner Harbor

Ate here for lunch. Salads were really good. Burgers are available but without buns, so we skipped that option. We ordered two types of fish on the gluten free menu, and both were good. They have sushi, too, although we didn't order any. Maybe next time! All in all, they have a decent selection of items on their Gluten Free Menu.

Awesome gluten free menu at restaurant in Baltimore

This place offers a relatively limited -- but excellent -- gluten free menu. The choices are not boring at all...in fact, even with just three gluten free pastas and three gluten free entrees, we had a hard time deciding. We ended up getting the Pasta Pomodoro, which is not a typical Pomodoro you may be used to...it has pesto added. Delish! And we ordered the Chicken Griglia, like a Chicken Piccata of sorts with a lemon sauce and capers. Filet mignon and salmon are the two other choices. Can't wait to go back and try either of those -- and another one of their pastas!
