|My favorite lobster pier in SW Harbor, ME has Gluten Free options! This 40 year family tradition has now gotten better than I could imagine. They have gluten free buns and bread for lobster rolls and sandwiches. Many of their soups are gluten free. My favorite was the Fish Stew. They have a separate fryer for gluten free items, and I was able to have the fried sweet potatoes! The lobsters are amazing as always, but I tried some new things: They had fresh local mussels in a garlic wine and herb broth that was as good as any top restaurant. The crab cakes with the red pepper aioli which I requested gluten free were also some of the best I've ever had. Be sure to ask for gluten free prep. The cole slaw is the best it's ever been this year. I don't eat chocolate but they had Udi's chocolate chip cookies. I found out that the chef is allergen trained so make sure to ask for Chuck if you have any concerns. He is happy to work with you to make sure you have a good experience. The location is fantastic with beautiful views of the harbor. It's a real working pier so the lobstermen are always pulling up to the pier and delivering lobsters. Great for the kids. I believe their ice cream is gluten free. Ask to be sure. I had it last year and never had an issue. They use real butter for their lobsters and their hamburgers are now locally grown and come in fresh, and they make their own patties. Also, they get their veggies from local farmers and their salads are delicious. Be sure to ask which dressings are gluten free. They have a good list of wine and beer. They have lots of seating with and without umbrellas as well as a covered patio area if it's raining or cold. The bathrooms are newly renovated and they have a separate outside sink if you just need to wash up from eating lobster. And if you want to have lobsters during the year when you are not in Maine, you can order directly from the website and have delivered straight to your door year round. Our family did this every year for New Years Eve since the early 1980's. Their lobsters are the freshest and most delicious. Beal's Lobster Pier is a must stop on your trip to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park.
