Iron Hill Restaurant in PA and DE, Jan 18, 2010
reviewer: Cjtravels from New York
Iron Hill Brewery is a restaurant with 8 locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware. They have a very extensive (2 page) gluten-free menu at their restaurant. It includes soups, salads, appetizers, shared plates, burgers, sandwiches, and numerous beef, chicken, fish, and seafood entrees. I ordered the outstanding Sweet Potato and Maple Bisque soup to start, served with nutmeg creme fraiche -- YUM!!!!! Then I got a turkey burger topped with guacamole, tomato, bacon, pepper jack, and ancho-honey mayo. It, too, was wonderful. The only downside is that burgers and sandwiches have to be ordered without bun/bread, since they don\'t have gluten-free buns/bread available. I would think that these days, it would be relatively easy for restaurants like this to keep gluten-free buns and bread on hand. There are so many good varieties available, and they can keep it in the freezer to use as needed when a g-f customer comes in. That way, it doesn\'t go bad. It would be a nice option to be able to order a burger or sandwich and be able to enjoy it the old-fashioned way! I did also appreciate the fact that, being a brewery, they did offer a gluten-free beer: Red Bridge, by Anhueser Busch. I\'d highly recommend this restaurant if you live in or are traveling through Pennsylvania or Delaware. Visit to see their locations.
