Wonderful gluten free meal at restaurant in Leesburg, VA, Mar 24, 2015
reviewer: Chrisj from Northern Virginia, VA
We had a wonderful meal at Firebirds in Leesburg, Virginia this past weekend. We'd never been to this -- or any other location. They have 5 other locations in Virginia (including Woodbridge and Gainesville) and in 12 other states. They do have a gluten free menu, which is quite extensive -- offering a range of soups (depending on the day of the week), interesting salads, lots of steak options, and fish and seafood, too. Even the Baby Back Ribs are gluten free. We stuck with the Surf & Turf and Salmon, and another diner at our table (who isn't gluten free) raved about the parmesan-crusted Mahi Mahi (unfortunately not gluten free). My wife ordered the Spinach Salad, with applewood-smoked bacon, tomatoes, eggs, and mushrooms all dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette. She said it was the best spinach salad she's ever had (she liked how the spinach was chopped, making it easier to eat). There are plenty of sides to choose from if you're gluten free, and we'd recommend the spiced pecan green beans. Although we didn't have room for dessert, they do offer a flourless chocolate cake. For those of you with kids young enough to order from a kids menu, there is a Gluten Free Kids Menu with steak, chicken, ribs, and a chicken salad (and plenty of side choices). Here's a link to Firebirds' Gluten Free Menu:
