Eating gluten-free at University of Kansas, Jun 23, 2014
reviewer: Heintzen from Lawrence, KS
There are several gluten-free dining possibilities at the University of Kansas (KU). Impromptu is the traditional restaurant at the KS Union and varieties at The Underground offer several choices (salad bar and Indian dishes).

Gluten Free at University of Kansas, Jun 25, 2014
reviewer: Jayhawk from Lawrence, KS, USA
The Oliver Hall Dining facility was very eager to assist me in my gluten free needs. Being a full time student at the University of Kansas, I lived in Oliver Hall. The dining facility there had specific refrigerators, toasters, fryers, etc. for the 4 gluten intolerant students in the dorm of 600+. One member of the staff, Marsha, was outstanding! The entire school year she looked after me, and made sure I always had something to eat, and that everything was up to my standards. While the options are limited, the options for all food is limited (it's a dorm, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't that way). Half way through the school year my best friend came to visit from Mizzou (she has full blown celiac disease). When she ate in the Oliver Dining Hall she told me that it was significantly better than anything that her school provided her! She was impressed that KU offered these options for gluten intolerant students, because her school did not.

While I often opted to eat at my sorority, or at various gluten free restaurants around Lawrence, it was always nice to be able to eat at the Oliver Dining Hall for a quick, cheap option. Their refrigerator is always stocked with gluten free brownies, cookies, muffins, waffles, chicken, and assortments of Amy's, and Udi's Gluten Free items.

As a gluten intolerant student, both KU and Oliver Dining Hall, fit my needs! Rock Chalk!
