Lots of variety and gluten free options at this fun diner, Jan 02, 2017
reviewer: Gfmom from Anytown, AT
It had been a long time since we've dined at this restaurant. For quite a few years, they've had many gluten free items, which are all marked on their menu ( http://www.silverdiner.com/sites/default/files/silver_diner_menu_-_fall_2016_0.pdf ). They also have an allergen chart on their site which shows if there is wheat, other gluten sources (and many other "allergens") in each item on their menu. This makes looking things up very easy. I ordered the Quinoa Coconut Pancakes with Blueberries for breakfast, and they were delicious -- completely gluten free and served with bananas on top, as well as a side cup of fruit. They also have gluten free French toast, omelets, and various combos of eggs and breakfast meats. There are plenty of options for lunch and dinner, too: salad, chili, steaks, and seafood. They also have gluten free bread and GF Udi's buns to substitute for regular bread or rolls, making many of their sandwiches and burgers available gluten free. It does not appear that their fries are gluten free. They pride themselves on offering a "flexitarian" menu, with something for everyone: vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Many items are locally sourced. While we didn't have dessert this time (being it was breakfast), I recall that their gluten free Brownie Decadence dessert was amazing!

Diner with locations in Maryland and Virginia has gluten free menu items, Mar 03, 2014
reviewer: Nanajan from Potomac, MD
I dined at this restaurant for the first time since going gluten free many years ago. I had been told by a friend that they offer gluten free options on their menu, including some very good gluten free breakfast items. I ordered the gluten free Quinoa Coconut Pancakes with blueberries and pecans mixed in the batter. They were topped with bananas and served with agave syrup and fresh strawberries. They were delicious -- not quite like anything I'd ever had. And it was a generous portion...I was stuffed! My friend ordered the gluten free, coconut Paradise French Toast, which was equally as delicious. Of course, you can also get a range of healthy and gluten free omelets, as well as "typical" breakfast items like eggs, fruit, and breakfast meats that are gluten free. They don't offer any sort of gluten free toast. They serve breakfast items all day. There are also other items on their lunch/dinner menu that are gluten free. Everything that's gluten free is marked with a GF next to it. There aren't a ton of options, but enough to give you a range of choices. Their gluten free Brownie Decadence dessert comes highly recommended, too, but that will have to wait for the next visit! In addition to marking all gluten free items on their menu, they also have a chart on their website that indicates whether the items on their extensive menu contain gluten: http://bit.ly/1eMSUaL
