Awesome food and wonderful gluten free choices at restaurant in Centreville, Jul 08, 2019
reviewer: Gfmom from
We love going to this restaurant, and our latest trip was as good as always. Items we ordered -- and other favorites ordered in the past -- include the Chop House Salad (appetizer), Goat Cheese and Spiced Pecan Salad (appetizer), Sweetwater Roast Chicken Salad (entree), fajitas with corn tortillas, BBQ baby back ribs, Jambalaya pasta with gluten free penne, Bell & Evans Roasted Half Young Chicken, and the Hickory Grilled Fresh Fish (type of fish changes daily). All the steaks are good, too. Burgers are available on gluten free bread/buns. The fries ARE gluten free here, as are the yummy sweet potato fries and many other sides. Their signature dessert, the Warm Flourless Chocolate Waffle, is to-die-for. Not too sweet and totally gluten free! Even though there is a disclaimer at the top of their Gluten Sensitive Dinner Menu, they are always very careful in the preparation of gluten free orders here, and we have never had a problem. If you have any questions, you can always talk to a manager. Here is the latest Gluten Sensitive Dinner Menu: https://www.greatamericanrestaurants.com/garcms/Content/Uploads/MenuPdf/GF/GF-Sweetwater,%20Centreville_Dinner.pdf They have another location in Sterling, VA.

Restaurant in Centreville, VA adds more gluten free items, Oct 23, 2014
reviewer: Chrisj from Northern Virginia, VA
This is one of our favorite area restaurants, but we hadn't been here for a while. This most recent visit was a welcome surprise. We found they added more items to their Gluten Free Menu. The GF Menu has always been very good -- not a ton of choices, but what they offered was delicious (steaks, chicken, awesome fish, salads). Now they have even more items on the Gluten Free Menu: fajitas (chicken, steak, portobello mushrooms or any combo of those), baby back ribs (to die for -- the best we've ever had), and even a gluten free Jambalaya pasta (which is so good you'd never know it was gluten free). Now the fries are even gluten free, which I don't recall them being before. According to our server, they are constantly trying to expand their gluten free selections, and they take great care in making sure everything is done correctly in the kitchen. One of the owners is gluten free. Be sure to save room for the gluten free chocolate waffle for dessert. It is probably the best gluten free dessert we've ever had! We feel very comfortable eating at this restaurant and love the food. We just wish they'd start offering gluten free bread, because the company owns a bakery!

Sweet Times at Sweetwater Tavern, May 29, 2008
reviewer: Nanajan from Potomac, MD, USA
We took my grandson here for lunch. Although it isn\'t quite as \"gluten-friendly\" as their company\'s sister restaurant, Coastal Flats, there were still plenty of options for gluten-free diners. They do have what they term a \"Low Gluten Menu\" -- something that probably covers them from a liability standpoint. The server seemed knowledgeable about the GF menu were were given by the hostess, and it included 6 salads (with only minimal adaptations like \"no croutons\"), burgers (but no bun), steak, pork chops, chicken, fish, and even baby back ribs! Everything is absolutely delicious here, and while I ordered something that was not gluten-free, there seem to be plenty of G-F options (mentioned above) that would still be very good. My grandson opted for the burger, which was served with redskin mashed potatoes. He is a big fan of french fries(!) and was disappointed when we learned they were not gluten- free here like they are at their sister restaurant Coastal Flats (b/c they don\'t use a dedicated fryer). But he quickly fell in love with the mashed potatoes and proclaimed, \"I like these better than french fries!\" They also served him a big bowl of baby carrots and applesauce. Of course, none of this compared to the warm gluten-free chocolate waffle with vanilla ice cream we shared for dessert...without a doubt one of the best desserts I\'ve ever had!!
