Nice Choice for Dinner Feb 25, 2018
reviewer: Neilglassman from Jersey City, NJ

As with other restaurants that do not have gluten-free items marked on their menu, we called Blue Plate in advance. The person with whom we spoke (who turned out to be our waitperson that night) was knowledgeable about Celiac Disease and suggested we be certain to raise the matter with our server. The kitchen prepares each dish to order and we ended up with a choice of starters and entrees, without having to ask for modifications. The food was very good and the service very friendly.

Great for gluten free breakfast and lunch Feb 25, 2018
reviewer: Neilglassman from Jersey City, NJ

The Gluten Free Bakery (Our Daily Bread) is a dedicated gluten-free facility that shares a space with this cafe. The cafe serves both gluten-free and gluten-containing items. The staff seems knowledgeable about Celiac disease and assured us that they work hard to avoid cross-contamination. After two meals there, we feel confident they are true to their word. A nice place for breakfast or lunch, or to take away some of their gluten-free breads and baked goods. Items from their regular bakery are also available.

Celiac-aware Gastro Pub in Chatham, NY Feb 25, 2018
reviewer: Neilglassman from Jersey City, NJ

As with other restaurants that do not have gluten-free items marked on their menu, we called The People’s Pub in advance. The person with whom we spoke was knowledgeable about Celiacs. This was our waitperson’s first day and she did not clearly communicate our needs to the kitchen. We questioned one of the side dishes and one of the kitchen staff came to our table to let us know that the dish was not safe. The kitchen recooked the entree from scratch. We felt that the error is the kind of thing that can be expected in a restaurant that does not have a gluten-free menu and understand our responsibility to work with the restaurant staff. The People’s Pub has excellent gastro-pub food, along with some fancier entrees and an excellent drink program.

Always a winner Feb 12, 2018
reviewer: Neilglassman from Jersey City, NJ

Latham House gets it right. The owners, Kris (who manages the front of house and creates the desserts) and Chef Dan built their restaurant’s reputation on taking good care of their customers. We need our meals to accommodate someone with Celiac, and Latham House does an outstanding job. The wait staff is well trained and readily consults with the owners about what dishes are and are not safe. The menu is varied, the food is creative and delicious, the cocktails are excellent. We dine there frequently and our experience has always been great; made better by the comfort in knowing it is safe.

Good, not great, risky Jan 18, 2018
reviewer: Neilglassman from Jersey City, NJ

While the menu offers a large number of gluten free items, as well as many that are optionally gluten free, neither the service staff nor the kitchen appeared to be familiar with Celiac disease. A Caesar salad was ordered gluten free, yet came with croutons and a roll. The replacement salad, which the server said was made fresh, still had gluten-bearing croutons. While neither of the Celiac diners in our party had any side effects from our dinner, we would be very cautious about eating at Sedona Taphouse again.
