Cozy and rustic restaurant with gluten free in Rio de Janeiro Oct 13, 2015
reviewer: Carioca from Rio de Janeiro, RJ

Pomar Orgânico has a cozy rustic atmosphere near Barra da Tijuca beach and streches between a golf course (Itanhangá Golf Club) and the tropical forest on its backside. The restaurant is health-oriented and serves organic vegetarian food totally gluten free and mostly lactose free. One of its owners is Chef Andrea Henrique who is always present to make sure everything is alright. They are open everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner except on Mondays. One can order salads, omelettes, quinoa hamburgers, various pastas and wonderful desserts. Wine, juices and gluten free beer are available. As a starter, one of the recommendations is a mix of sweet potato and manioc chips (made in coconut oil) with macadamia butter and apricot jam. Their breakfast combo named "pomar orgânico" is loaded with energy: gluten free bread, gluten free granola, a cake, fruits (avocado cream and papaya topped with chia seeds), jam, ghee butter, honey, scrambled eggs, orange juice, almond milk and coffee. It's something so special and it sure will keep you satisfied for the whole day! Before leaving, you can also go shopping for organic items, such as fruits and vegetables and even their own freshly baked delicious gluten free bread as they have a mini market just inside the restaurant.

Gluten free snacks in Sao Paulo, Brazil Nov 11, 2014
reviewer: Carioca from Rio de Janeiro, RJ

This is a dedicated gluten and lactose free bakery in a trendy surrounding close to Paulista Avenue in the heart of São Paulo city. There are lots of sweet treat options on the menu, including a delicious brownie. For a quick meal, one can have a go on the quiches or sandwiches. Healthy juices, tea, hot chocolate and coffee are available. One must be aware that it's always very crowded as it's a small venue. Definetely worth a try!

Vegetarian and gluten free restaurant in Rio de Janeiro Apr 14, 2013
reviewer: Carioca from Rio de Janeiro, RJ

BioCarioca is a vegetarian restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere for healthy, light meals. The Chefs Thiago Andrade and Bruno Moliné created an entire menu on natural and organic ingredients. A treat is a menu which offers complete information about gluten-free, egg-free, lactose-free options in appetizers, salads, soups, pasta, risotto, omelets served with green salads and desserts. Beers and wines are also served.
As a typical Brazilian touch, they have an astonishing range of fresh juices. It's good to have a try on the "watermelon with ginger" or the "orange juice with papaya" for a healthy start and continue with the "sun-dried tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella Risotto." For dessert, a wonderful option is the gluten-free "banana pie with Brazil Nuts and cinnamon."

Lots of gluten-free options in a nice restaurant atmosphere in Rio de Janeiro Dec 16, 2012
reviewer: Carioca from Rio de Janeiro

Market Ipanema was a superb dining experience in Rio. It is located in the heart of Ipanema, close to the beach and tourist area. Though the entrance is a bit too narrow, the first impression is a nice one as it opens up to a lovely porch with a romantic setting and candle lights. They have an incredibly great deal of labeled gluten-free options on the menu and the staff is very helpful if you have any request. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would recommend a late lunch straight from the beach or a romantic dinner. The restaurant is a healthy option to experience a great variety of smoothies and natural juices, which includes some very special detox ones. Salads and fish or meat are a must-try. For the ones who are not in the mood for a natural juice, the wine list is very reasonable. We had a delicious sole crusted with tapioca and also a perfect tilapia crusted with sunflower seeds and rice spaghetti with vegetables. Desserts are delicious but although some of them are gluten-free they unfortunately are not lactose free, so we had to skip that.

A gluten-free delight in Rio de Janeiro Dec 16, 2012
reviewer: Carioca from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Talho capixaba is a famous bakery in Leblon (Rio de Janeiro) with a special concern for the celiac public. They have a special brand called "Arte sem Gluten" and everything is made in a separate place with the supervision of specialists, where they prepare all sorts of delicious treats: cakes, brownies, waffles, cupcakes and breads. An assortment of fresh baked breads (corn, multigrain, quinua, australian, etc.) are always on display. Enjoy yourself.
