Gluten free waffles in Washington, DC,

At Wicked Waffle in Washington, DC you can find gluten free waffles. These are made on a dedicated waffle iron to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Savory waffle sandwiches and sweet waffle treats are featured here. Some examples of the savory sandwiches on gluten free waffles are: bacon and egg with cheese, grilled cheese, and the club sandwich. Among the sweet treats are the Nutella banana waffles, strawberry cheesecake waffles, and the tiramisu waffle. Several gluten free soups are also available. Keep in mind that although there is a large selection of gluten free items, this is not an entirely gluten free restaurant. Be sure to specify gluten free when ordering. Gluten free waffles at restaurant in Washington, DC!,

My daughter and I (who are both gluten free) were recently on vacation in Washington DC. Before we had left, I had researched various places on the internet to eat gluten free. One of the restaurants was a place called Wicked Waffle. They advertise, on their website, that almost all of their waffles can be made gluten free. It sounded like something worth trying.

Who would have ever thought that there are so many things to put on a waffle??? There was a range from egg and cheese on waffles to a tuna melt on a waffle! The menu has breakfast, lunch, and what are called sweet treats. This includes waffles with toppings such as chocolate, whipped cream, and caramel sauce.

The restaurant is quite small, with a few seats inside, but does have tables and chairs outside. Sometimes I find that the small places seem to have the freshest and best food. The people who served us were quite aware of gluten and gluten free food, and took care to make sure nothing was cross contaminated.

There were so many choices, my daughter and I didn't know what to order. We decided to order two different types of waffles and split them. My daughter ordered a grilled cheese on a waffle, and I, having the sweet tooth that I do, ordered a sweet waffle with chocolate. The waffles were fresh, crispy, and quite big. Much bigger than the ones I buy in the local grocery store. And they were to die for!

We were so impressed that we had to go back one more time. This time we went for breakfast and had a banana and chocolate waffle, as well as the sweet chocolate waffle. Plenty of toppings, such as whipped cream and tons of banana pieces. Such a treat with a cup of milk or a nice hot coffee. Too bad they aren't on the West coast.

They had quite a few customers while we were there, so it seems to be a popular place. I see the menu also has soups and desserts, although we didn't have time to try them. But I would highly recommend, if you happen to be in Washington DC, to go there. If I return to that area, I will definitely go back and get another waffle combination. There are so many more to try!
