NOTE: ROSA MEXICANO HAS INTRODUCED BOTH A GLUTEN-FREE LUNCH AND DINNER MENU SINCE THIS REVIEW WAS POSTED...SO NOW ALL YOU NEED DO IS ASK FOR THE GLUTEN-FREE MENU WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE RESTAURANT. All I have to say about this restaurant is Delicioso!!!! I would give this restaurant a rating of "5 Palms," but since they don't have a formal "gluten-free" menu, you have to ask a lot of questions, and a little patience is required. But I'd say a trip to Rosa Mexicano is well worth it, if you enjoy true Mexican food (it's definitely more "Mex" than "Tex." While not a "fancy" restaurant that entails dressing up, it is more upscale than most Mexican restaurants -- and such a nice, modern break from the typical chain restaurants (although they do have multiple locations on the East Coast -- NY, DC, Atlanta, Palm Beach Gardens, Miami). Everything is so incredibly fresh, and the guacamole, which they make fresh to order tableside is undoubtedly the best I've ever had (and of course gluten-free). It was to-die-for, no kidding. Even at $12 for a 2-person portion, it was worth every cent! I ordered the fish tacos, which are served with some interesting condiments, all of which were tasty. Although I don't have Celiac (it's our son who does), I was told they were gluten-free. The waiter did mention that one of the salsas had flour as a thickener, which I thought was unusual, never having heard this before. But like I said, you have to ask a lot of questions. Our server seemed pretty aware of Celiac and issues of cross contamination, and could often tell us himself which items contained gluten. When he wasn't positive -- and to confirm everything, he spoke to the chef. They advised us it was best to steer clear of the tortilla chips, because it sounded like they might not be fried in a dedicated fryer. But the guacamole and soft tacos were both served with the most delicious small, warm corn tortillas. I lost count at how many I ate. My son devoured them as well, and he and our other (non-Celiac) son split an order of the chicken soft tacos, which they enjoyed. My husband ordered some type of chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread, served with delicious sweet potato fries (again, the fries should probably be avoided b/c of the non-dedicated fryer). Pretty much everything on the kids menu was off-limits (quesadillas were made with flour tortillas, and the corn-battered chicken tenders and crispy tacos were fried). But so many other things on the menu (soft tacos, enchiladas, meat entrees, and salads could easily be safely ordered after verifying everything with the chef. The mole sauce and a few other things were off-limits, but dishes could be tailored accordingly. I can't say enough about the freshness, originality, and tastiness of their food. I could go there every week and not get bored. Apparently, they even deliver within the area, for a $20 minimum purchase.
