Amazing gluten free Italian meal in Georgetown,

Wow! We had an amazing dinner at Il Canale. This restaurant offers gluten free pizza and pasta, and many of the other things on the menu (like meat and seafood items) can be made gluten free upon request. They are very friendly and accommodating here and even have a separate kitchen for preparing the gluten free pizza and pasta. The pasta is made from a blend of rice and corn and is very tasty. The pizza crust isn't homemade, but it is good, and the toppings are delicious. Even though they only have a handful of gluten free pizza varieties listed on the menu, you can request other combinations as many of the other toppings are naturally gluten free (like meats and veggies). Same goes for the pasta...if you want something not listed as gluten free, just ask. They make gluten free focaccia using the gluten free pizza crust, and it is a great starter. The wine selection here is very good, and they even have a gluten free coconut panna cotta with chocolate sauce for dessert. Our salads were delicious and fresh (buffalo mozzarella was outstanding, as was the prosciutto over fresh cantaloupe melon). I can highly recommend this restaurant if you like authentic Italian food. They are known for their authentic Neapolitan style pizza cooked in a wood burning oven, but since that isn't gluten free, we didn't try it. It looked great, however!

This wonderful Italian restaurant now offers gluten free pizza (the crust is imported from Italy!) and gluten free corn/rice pasta. The pizza is cooked in a separate oven (not their brick oven), so cross contamination is avoided. They are very careful about preparing things separately. You have quite a few choices on this menu, including some wonderful antipasti and salads. Check out their menu here. You will also see the gluten free items pop up throughout the menu: http://ilcanale.com/dinner-menu/
