CUTLER & CO. -- Had it not been brought to my attention by a registered dietitian colleague who lives in this most fantastic of cities, I probably would have never found this gem of a restaurant in the Fitzroy section. I felt like I was in a contemporary, food-forward restaurant in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. The architecture was cool and so was the service. In addition to providing warm-baked gluten free bread, our waitress confidently told me which items could be prepared gluten free and exactly how they would be prepared. It was a delightful meal all around.
CAFE DE LA PLACE -- Before setting off on a day of touring Melbourne, we ate at this delightful French bakery/brunch place right near our hotel in the South Yarra section. There wasn't a whole lot to order gluten free, but the attention to my gluten free needs was helpful and eager, and they did have a gluten free crepe special. I ordered the omelet instead, but thinking back I should have taken advantage of that gluten free crepe. I mean how often is that an option? Pretty much almost never.
