This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Barcelona, and definitely one of the safest for me in terms of being celiac. Almost the entire menu is safe or adaptable for celiacs and those with even the most extreme gluten sensitivities. The owners started this restaurant with the purpose of providing a place for those with food allergies and issues to come and eat and enjoy their meal with the worries that normally plague them (us!).
The menu is available in Spanish, English, and a few other languages, and the staff can answer questions in English as well if there are concerns. The menu itself is so well-labeled, questions seem almost unnecessary. The staff and chefs here know all about cross-contamination! One time I ordered buckwheat (which is GF safe) and another time turkey (almost always GF) but they advised me against these two items because they were not certified as 100% gluten-free. They are THAT careful.
The food itself is delicious and healthy and can be made lactose free, vegetarian, vegan, etc. to suit even the most difficult diets. The menu includes breakfast and brunch foods as well as amazing salads, burgers (on gluten free buns, of course!), gluten-free beer, crepes, gluten- and lactose-free desserts, and more.
I always feel comfortable in this sweet cafe and well taken care of. I have never gotten sick and never had a bad meal - and I order something new every time I go!
