Gluten free dining at popular Charleston, SC restaurant,

Specializing in "modern Southern and lowcountry cuisine," this restaurant is a must if gluten free and visiting Charleston. Owned by the same family that owns High Cotton across the street, it, too, has a gluten free menu. In fact, there is a Gluten Free Dinner Menu, a Gluten Free Lunch Menu, AND a Gluten Free Brunch Menu. There is much to choose from on all three! We dined here for brunch, but I ordered something that is available for lunch and dinner, too -- the house specialty: Shrimp and Grits. According to our server, theirs has consistently been rated the best in Charleston by a local magazine. So I was glad I had waited to try this southern specialty until dining at this restaurant. It was, of course, delicious. You'll find a range of items to choose from on any of the GF menus (Brunch, Lunch or Dinner). AND they have some great gluten free cocktails listed! For ANY of the GF menus, just scroll down past the "regular" menus linked above to view the Gluten Free Menus right below them.

One of the most acclaimed restaurant's in Charleston has a gluten free menu. Slightly North of Broad located in downtown Charleston has a version of their regular menu that notes which items are gluten free. I had many choices that included fish, beef and lamb, however the trout dish sounded too good to pass up. Our knowledgeable waitress felt I could have it but would check with the chef. The fish was fine and with a change of the side to spinach mashed potatoes, I had awesome dinner. I ended the meal with a creme broule that was the best I have ever had. This truly was a wonderful dinner and one that I did not have to compromise in any way to eat gluten free! Reservations are a must will assure you of no wait. I also feel this is not a place for young children and only for young adults with good menu skills.
