My favoirte casual, family owned and operated business that has embraced the gluten free community is The Soup Pot. True to it's name they feature soups but these soups are special because they are all made from fresh ingredients and cooked from scratch daily.
The gluten free soups that I have tasted are tomato basil, lentil and chunky chicken. It is always hard trying to decide which one to eat because they are all so good.
Various sandwiches are available to accompany the soup. Gluten free panini sandwiches are a real treat made fresh when you place your order. I love the veggie panini sandwich so much I usually order it every time I go. The ham with colby cheese is another favorite. The panini's are all made with homemade gluten free breads that are light and delicious.
To finish off the meal gluten free desserts are available.
If you are lucky to be at the Soup Pot when a special event is going on you might be able to purchase a gluten free strawberry rhubarb pie or a mixed berry pie or some of her specialty breads such as mock rye that really smells
like rye, cinamon raisin bread, with lots of raisins, and a honey white bread. These are sliced, 2 lb. loaves of bread.
You can eat in or take out, but if you eat in you can talk to Marianne, the founder and owner of The Soup Pot, and her mother who make this restaurant a wonderful little gem for a person needing gluten free foods.
