I had a good gluten-free experience at Growler's Brewpub in
Gaithersburg last night. I called ahead on Thursday and spoke
with a manager who happily walked through the menu with me
to explain what was gluten free. There's no separate menu, but
when I told the waitress on Saturday night that I needed gluten
free, she understood immediately and knew exactly what was
safe and what wasn't. Anything on the grill and most of the
salads can be made gluten free.
I had the peppercorn steak salad with oil and vinegar on the
side. It was very good, fresh greens topped with a piece of
quality steak. I did not get sick, and I'm sensitive, so I would
have known by now if there was any cross contamination. They
have wine and hard cider available; I encouraged both the
manager and our waitress to consider carrying some kind of
Gluten Free beer.
