Chef Thomas and the ENTIRE staff at the Grand Hyatt were truly amazing. My son was just diagnosed with Celiac in January just one week shy of his 6th birthday and this was our first vacation since he was diagnosed. I was very anxious about traveling and making sure that my son would have safe food available but Chef Thomas took care of him well beyond my hopes and expectations. I spoke with him before we arrived and he was extremely knowledgeable about Celiac disease and the restrictions and already has dedicated griddles, fryers, etc to accommodate. He was so thoughtful to ask what my son's favorite foods were to make sure he would have gluten free options available during our entire visit. When we checked into the hotel, we were treated to a wonderful surprise. The refrigerator in our suite was stocked with complimentary drinks (organic milk and juices, water and soda), there was a custom made gluten free menu with all of my son's favorite foods plus a few surprises, AND homemade gluten free donuts for my three kids! Every day, there was a special gluten free snack in our room. Every day, the entire restaurant and room service staff greeted my son by name and was prepared for his special needs. We were traveling with 3 other families so we had a large group at breakfast (14 of us) and they even gave us a separate room that they reserved just for us each morning. Not only were the gluten free options delicious but all of the food was truly delicious and enjoyed by kids and adults alike. We even ordered box lunches for my son on two of the days to bring with us during our excursions for the day. We felt like such honored guests and so at home at the same time. I don't know that that first travel experience being a gluten free/Celiac family can be topped. They were all truly wonderful and I would HIGHLY recommend going there for anyone with Celiac. My only recommendation is to call ahead so that they know you are coming and to give them time to prepare. Oh and please tell them that Owen said hello!
