We had a great week at the Club Med in Florida, and they were
very accommodating with gluten free.
Prior to our arrival, I called the reception to ask about GF. My
answer from them was awful – no knowledge of GF, no way to
do it, etc. However, I figured that I could work it out when we
got there. We’re very glad we went!
Once we arrived, I met with the head chef. He was extremely
knowledgeable and despite being very busy with spring
breakers, gave me all the time I needed. He sought out my son
and introduced himself, and made sure that my son knew he
could ask questions anytime. He offered to cook my son’s
French fries in separate oil. He tore the side off the French fry
and the soft serve ice cream box to show me the ingredients
(both GF). He brought flourless chocolate cake to our table. He
made suggestions as to good dishes to try, etc, etc. One of the
nights we sat with the purchasing agent, and he told me that
they have more and more GF requests and that they are
making a concerted effort to get more educated. (They *do
not* have a dedicated work area or grill however).
While they cannot guarantee no cross contamination, Club Med
made every effort to make our meals an enjoyable part of the
