I enjoyed gluten-free Afternoon Tea service at The Dorchester Hotel in London. It was actually difficult to choose where in the city to enjoy this refined English tradition. After doing some research about which places offered gluten-free service, it quickly became evident that it was harder to find places that didn't offer gluten-free Afternoon Tea service in London, than those that did.
The very first enjoyable gluten-free bread I had when dining out was at The Dorchester Hotel. In fact, the tea sandwiches were so fabulous that I assumed that I had been served gluten-containing bread by mistake. The dining room manager in the opulent Promenade salon assured me that the smoked salmon, cucumber, and chicken salad sandwiches were made with gluten-free bread, noting the difference from the bread served at the tables around us.
The gluten-free desserts at The Dorchester included fancy chocolate delicacies and exotic fresh fruit. The generous servings made for a full, albeit unconditional, gluten-free meal. I remember thinking at the time that it would be nice to live in London after having such a spectacularly delicious gluten-free experience!
