I recently had the pleasure of visiting SALT The Bistro on downtown Pearl Street with my family during the holidays. I always fear going out to eat with my family that the place they will choose will not have gluten free options for me. When we arrived we sat down at a lovely booth by the wood fire oven, and I glanced the menu. The first thing I saw were those life saving words, "Upon request every item on our menu can be prepared gluten free." I couldn't decide between the Oak Fired Never-Ever Flatiron Steak with local squash & wild mushroom risotto, garlic seared local greens, and aged balsamic, or the Local Organic Vegetable Tasting with polenta (which they made Gluten Free) with local chard, local black quinoa fritter, garam masala spiced chickpea & cauliflower, dill roasted carrots, garlic seared chard, soup sip, and fried potato with local vegetable slaw. I am always cautious that the dish really is prepared gluten free, and so the chef came over and talked me about the preparation and gave me even more options. Great customer service and attention. I highly recommend this place as a life-savin' gluten free option for people who want to dine out stress free in a comfortable, warm atmosphere. I felt like I could order anything off the menu, and the staff was courteous and sensitive to my needs making me feel right at home!
