Had a fabulous time at the Breezes Resort. It's an all-inclusive with each meal being a buffet. Scary for a Celiac, but I took lots of my own food just in case. While the buffet items were mostly off limits for me, I was expecting even less that I could eat so I felt better about it. For breakfast there was always grits, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt...good meal to fill up on. Only made it to lunch once since we were so full from breakfast. Dinner had a different theme of food each night, but always had a great salad bar that included fresh fruit, cheese and olives to help fill up on. There was also usually a basket of apples and bananas and I would take one with me for a snack later if we were leaving the resort for an excursion. Besides the buffets, they had 2 restaurants for dinner. We went once, but only had a side salad that I could eat, but asked for unseasoned steamed broccoli also (then ate a snack I had in my room), but it was a different atmosphere and we were glad we went. The waiter looked thoroughly confused when I brought up "gluten-free" or even "wheat allergy."
We had a great time on our vacation and would go back again. Since I knew before we left that I was NOT going for the food and concentrated more on the Bahamas, I had a great time and appreciated the things I found that were ok for me to eat. I would give my vacation more than 3 Palms, but the GF aspect of it was more like a 2 Palms...But I've learned to love salads and not let it overwhelm my vacation. Having the buffet-style made me personally feel more comfortable of what was on my salad (and I could eat 5 salads if I needed to). Can't wait to go again!
