We had spent the day touring the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library with some friends and wanted to grab dinner nearby before heading back to the L.A. area to our hotel. We were all in the mood for pizza, so we went to the California Pizza Kitchen in the Simi Valley Town Center, which also has other gluten-free friendly chain restaurants like Red Robin, Chipotle, and Famous Daves.
Dining gluten free at California Pizza Kitchen gives you a choice of their gluten free pizzas (four varieties are prepared in a special GF area using all the proper precautions to avoid cross contamination). You can also order other combinations on their gluten free pizza crust, but other than the toppings used for their four advertised gluten free varieties, toppings are kept in the general pizza prep area and therefore can be prone to cross contamination.
Many of their salads and some of their appetizers are gluten free, too, even though they are not labeled as such on the menu. Just ask your server or ask to speak with a manager. Their salads are wonderful.
Our favorite pizza is always their signature item: the BBQ Chicken Pizza (gluten free version).
