In addition to being Oakland Chinatown's only ramen eatery, Sobo Ramen has recently become the only restaurant in the Bay area to offer a gluten free ramen noodle on their menu.
Sobo is thrilled to be offering vegan and gluten free ramen bowls to feed the growing number of customers with gluten restrictions.
"It is important to us that everyone can enjoy our ramen! Whether you have a vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diet," said Owner Stella Loi.
Sobo Ramen's gluten-free noodle is available in four vegan menu entrees; The Vegan Miso Ramen, the Vegan Spicy Miso Ramen, the Vegan Curry Vegetable Ramen, and the Soy Coconut Ramen.
Each of the vegan ramen bowls are topped with kale, cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, seaweed, green onions, and sesame seeds and are sure to satisfy Ramen lovers with the heartiest of appetites. The Vegan Bowls are now available on the menu.
The response for the newest item on the menu has been overwhelmingly positive from patrons whose dietary limitations excluded them from ramen houses.
Sonia, a vegan and recent Sobo regular, enthusiastically expressed her appreciation of the new ramen noodle. "Thank you Sobo, for making the vegan ramen. We thought there would never be ramen for us."
According to Hideyuki Yamashita, President of the Yamachan Noodle Company, Sobo Ramen is the only Ramen shop that offers a gluten-free noodle to its patrons in the South, East, West, and North Bay area as well as the Peninsula. The Yamachan Noodle Company is one of the biggest suppliers of noodles and other goods to Ramen shops in the North California region.
Sobo's Ramen vegan Ramen bowls range from $9.95 to $13.95. Sobo Ramen opened its doors on August 24, 2012. Lunch hours are 11:00 am to 2:30 pm seven days a week and it is open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It has quickly become a favorite among Oakland residents and businesses, and has gotten rave revues from ramen connoisseurs throughout the Bay.
