We like staying at Courtyard by Marriott hotels when we're looking for a hotel for a night or two that's priced well. When visiting the Los Angeles area recently, we chose this particular Marriott, based on its location right in the middle of several places we were planning to visit: Universal Studios, the Reagan Presidential Library, and The Getty art museum. It was only about a half-hour's drive to each of those locations. There was a Trader Joe's right next door, but we really didn't need to buy much food, other than fruit and water, as we ate all our meals, except breakfast, out. The Courtyard by Marriott hotels now have very nice lounges where you can relax at a table and work, watch TV, have a drink, or get a bite to eat. They have a cafe that is open all day and has a good selection of food. For a gluten free breakfast, you can request eggs done as you like (I just alerted them that our son was gluten free and asked that they prepare them in a clean pan, not on a griddle where any gluten-containing items may have been cooked). This was no problem. They also have frittatas which I believe were gluten free. For some reason, they told my husband that the bacon wasn't gluten free, which didn't make sense (I probably would have inquired further and asked to see the packaging if he'd really been craving bacon). They also had other breakfast meats. They also have fruit cups, which our son opted to add to his meal. They do not have any gluten free bread for toast or gluten free pastries. It's pretty much eggs, breakfast meats (if you confirm they're gluten free), and fruit. But it beats trekking out to find a place for a quick breakfast early in the morning. And the atmosphere is really nice in this lounge/cafe area, and they have the morning papers to look at while you wait.
