This little Mediterranean cafe located in Escondido, (North- Inland San Diego) is wonderful for anyone that is GF. Terri (owner/Chef) makes a point to create gluten free menu items that compare to any regular non GF item. They bake fresh GF and Regular bread daily, along with her GF desserts like Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing, Chocolate/Zucchini Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookies and the famous Blueberry Gorgonzola Jalapeno Cheesecake, (I know it sounds weird but it is a standing big seller).
We had the GF Lasagna with Bechamel and Red Sauce and the Chuck Roast and Mashed Potatoes, home made bread, wonderful salads and of course the above stated cheesecake, so much food we had to bring home two boxes of left-overs. Amazing food, my husband usually doesn't go for GF food, but he couldn't tell the difference at all. I also LOVE the GF Pizza Soup, yummmmm!
The owner Terri also teaches GF cooking, I've been to about 4 of her classes and had a blast at all of them, learned much and ate too much!!
If you are planning on trying it out, the cafe is only open for lunch weekdays and dinner on Friday nights. Sometimes they have special GF events so check out their Facebook page. If you think you want GF Pasta you can call ahead and they will start boiling water for your GF pasta to cook in. The prices are very reasonable, nothing is over $10.
