Really nice selection of gluten free choices at this Laguna Beach restaurant,

We were thrilled to find this restaurant in Laguna Beach. They offer a really nice selection of gluten free options, all marked on their menu as "gluten-free." For starters, you can choose from the following appetizers: ahi tuna stack or crispy brussels sprouts. Most of the side salad selections are gluten free, including the Wedge. There's also a seafood chowder that's gluten free! I ordered the Superfood Salad, which was outstanding -- an entree salad with toasted quinoa, kale, brussels sprouts, cabbage, shredded broccoli, sunflower seeds, beets, dried cranberries, and feta -- with a lime vinaigrette. I added grilled salmon to the top for some extra protein. You can also add shrimp, grilled chicken, or flat iron steak. You've got seafood entrees like Chilean sea bass, salmon, and citrus-glazed jumbo shrimp to choose from as entrees, as well as many different steak options, which other gluten free folks at our table ordered. There's even a "coffee encrusted New York steak" with blue cheese, bourbon caramel, and served with arugula and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes! There's a pork chop with bacon mushroom jus and mesquite grilled baby back ribs. Almost all the sides are gluten free, including the asiago garlic fries and butternut squash and kale hash. Save room for dessert, as you have three gluten free choices, including the Flourless Chocolate Cake and the Butterscotch Custard (pictured here). Amazing meal and friendly service right on Pacific Coast Highway just south of the main part of Laguna Beach.

We dined at Salt Creek Grill's Dana Point location with a big family group the week of Thanksgiving. While they don't have a specific gluten-free menu, they mark all gluten-free items with a "g" on their regular menu. There were a fair number of options and even more things not listed as "gluten free" that can be adapted to be gluten free if desired. Our server and the manager were great about accommodating our needs, including some requests for no garlic (family allergy). Gluten free items ordered included their housemade potato chips with sea salt, thyme, and gorgonzola (passed around the table as an appetizer), the baby back ribs (delish!), and the filet mignon (one of the items not specifically listed as gluten-free but only because of the side dish, which they happily let us replace with one of their many other gluten-free side dish options). In general, the steaks, burgers and possibly some other items like fish can be made gluten-free with minimal adjustment (hold the bun, substitute a side dish, forego the sauce, etc.). All in all, it was a great experience, and I'd highly recommend this restaurant. They have two other locations in California and two in New Jersey as well. You can view their gluten-free menu here:
