Open City is a coffee house, diner, and bar. Breakfast is served all day here. There are also hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and more. Several gluten free items are noted on the menu. In addition, gluten free bread is available (for an extra fee) to substitute for toast with breakfast meals, and for sandwiches. Pizzas can be made as gluten free for an additional charge of $5. Other meals can be modified to accommodate gluten free needs, so be sure to ask the server for more information. The entire menu can be viewed here: http://www.opencitydc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/OC-Web-Menu-7-26-2016.pdf

We went last Wednesday night (half price GF pizza night!) We sat outside and not only the hostess but also our server were both GF, and everyone on the patio seemed to be GF as well as we kept hearing people talking about gluten. My son loved the GF pizza - and it's much larger than the pizzas at Pete's or the usual small Still Riding size. A good bargain on half price night! They have lots of GF choices but I was very disappointed in my steak salad - the lettuce was brown and wilted and pretty disgusting. I didn't send it back because my kids were getting cranky and wanted to get home but next time I would. Henry's already asking when we can go back there. I love having a new restaurant we can all enjoy even if the lettuce was nasty :) SUBMITTED BY A MEMBER OF THE DC CELIACS SUPPORT GROUP http://www.dcceliacs.com

We just got back from eating at Open City, and it was fantastic. The GF pizza was terrific (our son got the carnivore)/crust was made fresh, as was the non-GF pizza (we got the Greek). They have a dedicated fryer for the french fries, which were also terrific. Cute atmosphere, lots of seating indoors and out. Delicious GF flourless chocolate cake, as well as non-GF strawberry tarte. Very good coffee. ONLY thing we disliked was the veggie/quinoa dish -- terrible.
