Macaroni Grill is a good option if you're following a gluten free diet, because they offer many pasta preparations using gluten free pasta. You can also create your own pasta dish, customizing it with whatever you want on it (meat or seafood, veggies, different sauces). They have a few starters and salads that are gluten free -- and a few entrees, although you often have to leave out the side (like potatoes and even some of the vegetables) because they aren't gluten free. The best thing to do is probably to create your own pasta, although on this particular night when we visited, they were out of gluten free pasta -- and we'd already been seated. We debated going elsewhere, but it was right in the middle of the busy Sunday evening dinner hour, and we knew wherever else we went, we'd have to wait for a table again. But the manager came over and was very nice. He has kids on special diets, so he totally understood how frustrated we were. He apologized profusely. At that point, it was hard to be frustrated. He asked what our son had been planning to order. When we told him the "Create Your Own" gluten free pasta with shrimp and spinach and garlic olive oil, he offered to do that on a bed of risotto instead. It all turned out very good...I believe they used a light sauce of white wine, lemon, olive oil, and garlic, and it was delicious. The risotto was good, but very rich, so our son couldn't finish it. (I had what he couldn't eat!) As with any restaurant, it's probably best to call ahead if possible to verify that they have what you're looking to order that night (in this case, gluten free pasta). I wouldn't have thought it would have been an issue, but clearly, things happen, and we learned our lesson.
