After walking for diabetes, I was starving and still have to pick up a few things at the store. So I did a quick search on my phone app and noticed there was a California Pizza Kitchen close to where I was. I suggested we go there for lunch as they had a Gluten Free menu.
We went in, sat and reviewed the menu. Not only when the manager and waitress came over did they show me the new gluten free pizza menu they also told me about how they had to taste test them and were educated on what was involved with the GF process at their company. Being recently diagnosed, I was quite impressed with the time and knowledge the staff had. I ordered the Pepperoni, Mushroom, Sausage gluten free pizza and had their small plate white corn guacamole and chips appetizer.

First let me say I am sooo hooked on the Guacamole..Chilled, sweet corn just enough flavor and chips for dipping... While I was eating I thought hmmm if the pizza is eh just GF pizza no biggie this guacamole was worth the trip...

The pizza finally shows up...And boy was I wrong it definitely outdid the dip and chips.

Warm, hot gooey cheese... crispy pepperoni and chunks of sausage not crumbles. The crust was perfect -- not under or over cooked. It looked like a real thin crust pizza not something out of a box from the grocery store. (Which in my travels of different places to dine I have seen food come to my table that looked like it was a frozen dinner)
The smell, look at presentation was perfect, it even came with its own Gluten free toothpick to identify it was mine.

I took my first bite.. It was sooooo yummmy the crust had flavor!!!!! A bit of sweetness , a bit of crunch. The toppings were fresh, had flavor and there was just enough on every slice that I was even able to pick off a slice of pepperoni, a mushroom and a sausage chunk just to taste each one and didn't have any empty spots :)

Fresh Yummy and made for me ...

Needless to say I ate a slice, then another and another ....The waitress cleared my empty plate. And I left with an overstuffed belly. And no pain to boot.

I will no doubt be visiting CPK locations again and after reading the blog and seeing the process involved in keeping the gluten free pizza GF, I will be taking my business there a little more frequently than I have in the past.

Way to go California Pizza Kitchen for doing your research and rolling out your gluten free pizzas...
