We visited this inn in a small town about 15 miles from Gettysburg, PA, in 2006 and were delighted with the care they took in accomodating a gluten-free diet. We returned in July 2010 and had a very unsatisfactory visit. We expressed our disappointment and the management called to apologize. We decided to give them a second chance. It was an expensive mistake, considering the prices charged by Antrim. On both recent visits, even though we had discussed the need for a gluten free diet when making our reservations and when checking in, there seemed to be little thought and less effort given to our needs. There were no gluten free options at the afternoon tea or the cocktail hour (in 2006 special gluten free hors d'oeuvres were waiting for us). Appetizer and entree options were extremely limited and seemed to indicate that the chef thought gluten free = vegan, since of the 2 appetizers and 2 entrees I could have, only one included meat. The GF dessert was a martini glass of fruit, plunked down without even asking if I wanted it. Since one of the 2 gluten free appetizers was a fruit and cheese plate, you have some idea of the chef's limited gluten free imagination. I left the table, went to a nearby convenience store and returned with a single serving of a gluten free Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Service was also extremely slow, so although we had a 7:30 dinner reservation, our entree was served shortly before 10:00, about 9 hours since my previous meal. In the morning a "wake up tray" is delivered to your room. On the July visit fruit and muffins were placed on the same plate, meaning I could not have the fruit. The muffins were omitted on the most recent visit. Breakfast both recent visits consisted of runny eggs, rare bacon and fruit. A potato dish was prepared with bread crumbs and the other hot item was French toast. They will not be given another chance.
