Highly recommend this restaurant in Bethesda, MD for gluten free dining,

We went on Friday night before a concert up the road at Strathmore. Having never been there and having seen mention of gluten free options on their website, we opted for the tasting menu. Boy was that a good idea! I told our excellent waiter that I was Gluten Free but my husband was not and we proceeded to get 6 courses of really good food - only some of which were specifically modified to give me a Gluten Free option. I got cucumber slices to enjoy the cheese sampler to start - hubby got pita bread which he said was a very tasty. This was followed by calamari (his was fried, mine was in a garlicy sauce) - I would have sworn before I went that I did not like calamari but this was delicious.

The grilled Cesar salad, cod and chorizo stew, and beef brisket didn't seem to need any adjustments since we ate from the same plate. His dessert was cheesecake, mine was a perfectly nice creme brulee (which I honestly didn't need given all I had already eaten!)

At the end of the meal, Chef Tony came out of the kitchen to check on us and make sure I was happy with the Gluten Free options.

I don't know that I could eat 6 courses again but I certainly will go back.

Have you spent countless hours fantasizing about delicious gluten-free food? Do you wish you could walk into a restaurant and eat anything on the menu? If you just answered yes to both of those questions, then you’re in luck! Chef Tony Marciante of Chef Tony's restaurant (formerly called Visions Restaurant) in Bethesda has expanded his vision of high-quality and elegant food to include a vibrant gluten-free menu. I was first introduced to Chef Tony's/Visions Restaurant as part of our Washington DC Gluten-Free Dinner Club. Every month a big group of us gather at a different restaurant in the DC area to eat delicious food, share stories and meet new people. We’ve been to some pretty amazing restaurants, but our meal at Chef Tony's topped the list! Our meal started with a trio of appetizers including an olive tapenade with sliced cucumbers, roasted red pepper hummus with rice crackers and a blackened Ahi tuna with a cucumber seaweed salad. The second course was a light and fresh salad of mixed greens and arugula, cranberry goat cheese and a tangy dressing made from extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt. For dinner, we were able to choose from a variety of entrees including: blue crab pasta with a marsala curry sauce, filet mignon with sticky rice and cucumber salad, roasted chicken with asparagus and artichokes over brown rice or, my personal favorite, grilled salmon served over pasta with artichokes and a pesto cream sauce. Dessert included a phenomenal chocolate crme brule topped with fresh berries or a refreshing lemon sorbet.
