Gluten-free friendly restaurant in Rome with Celiac owner,

We dined at this restaurant upon arriving back in Rome after a very long day trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. This restaurant can make anything on the menu gluten free. The woman who served us (I think one of the owners) also has Celiac. So, for example, any pasta dish can be made with gluten free pasta, and they understand safe preparation methods. They brought bread (both regular bread and gluten free bread in a sealed bag). Our Celiac son said it was good with some olive oil, but I'm guessing it would have been better warmed up a bit. I didn't try it, as I didn't want any bread...I figured I'd save my calories for the dinner! They also brought us a very nice mixed salad with various lettuces and tomatoes. It wasn't something we ordered; I think they must just serve it to everyone. For our entrees, our son opted to try a gluten free pizza (pepperoni, which is called salami in Italy). Other gluten free entrees ordered by our family included an Italian specialty: Tonnarelli cacio e pepe (fettuccine with cheese and pepper -- amazingly simple and delicious), fettuccine Bolognese, and Pasta Aglio Olio, and Veal Saltimbocca. All were great. In my opinion, the pasta or meat entrees are the things to order here. The pizza was just okay. They have wonderful desserts, including gluten free crepes with orange and warm chocolate, which our son was salivating over. But as it was getting late and we were all exhausted (and the service had been a bit slow), we decided to head back to our apartment. However, our Celiac son and I went back a few nights later for that dessert! He loved his gluten free chocolate crepes. We highly recommend ordering these if you go -- or just stop in for dessert!

Great ambiance with an incredible piano player. Asked for the Gluten Free menu and he brought me a full menu (6 or 7 pages). They offer everything on the menu in a Gluten Free version including gnoquis and raviolis. They brought me Gluten Free crostini to die for, and I ordered the raviolis which were very good and for dessert had profiteroles which were amazing. They treated us like family. Went back the next night and even got a free glass of proseco, they really know what they are doing! Family owned too.
