This place has a seperate kitchen for GF items and everything on their menu can be made gluten free and lactose free. I had a different dessert every night. . I ate there 6 times while I was in Rome. If you are in Rome, you should try to eat there.

Best gluten free food in Rome,

All I can say is, when in Rome, do not pass up the opportunity to go to Mama Eat! in Trastevere. They also have one in Naples and two smaller "fast food" type street restaurants called Mama Frites (one also in Trastevere and one near the Vatican). But this location of Mama Eat! seems to be their "flagship" restaurant. While there is no shortage of other GF-friendly restaurants in Trastevere, this restaurant is amazing. Everything on the very large menu can be made gluten free. They maintain two separate kitchens so as to avoid any cross contamination. Here you will find all the traditional Italian specialties: antipasto, amazing pastas, Neapolitan style pizzas (almost impossible to find anywhere in a gluten free variety), meat and fish entrees, sides, and many desserts. It literally took us 10 minutes or more to choose what to order. We were salivating and deliberating over the many offerings on the menu. I started with a simple Caprese salad and then went with my gut and ordered a gluten free pizza. I figured this might be the thing to order, as these are so rare to find in the Neapolitan style. Boy, was I glad I did. It was literally the best pizza I've ever had in my life (gluten free or otherwise). I ordered the Capricciosa variety, which is a favorite of mine (ham, mushroom, artichokes, olive). It was perfect. The crispy/chewy crust, sauce, cheese and toppings were all amazing. Because we'd been having quite a bit of pasta and pizza already on this trip, my husband and sons decided on some heavy protein dishes: filet mignon entrees for our boys and huge homemade meatballs for my husband. Like many of our meals, even though we'd been eyeing many of the delectable gluten free desserts, we were too full after our main courses. It killed us not to try some of them (panna cotta, regular or pistachio tiramisu, Nutella crepes, chocolate lava cake, and more)! Again, you MUST try this restaurant. It's a great excuse to spend time in the Travestere neighborhood, a hot-spot for nighttime dining and a picturesque area for exploring. Its medieval history and narrow, cobblestone streets and squares make it a great place to snap some beautiful photos. I'd give this restaurant a higher rating than 5 palms if I could!

At Mama Eat in Rome, a gluten free version is offered for every item on the menu. This restaurant is proud to be recognized by the Italian Celiac Association. All gluten free dishes are prepared in a separate kitchen. Some of the menu options include: rigatoni pasta with tomato sauce and bacon, stuffed calzones, fried chicken, and stuffed pork rolls. There is also a selection of paninis and salads. For dessert you can enjoy chocolate cake with almonds or pizza with Nutella. When ordering be sure to specify gluten free. Best Gluten Free dining in Rome? It was for me ...,

In our 5 days in Rome, we went to 2 of what I thought were the best gluten free options there, both recommended here by others (Renovatio La Soffitta, and Voglia di Pizza). This one was highly recommended by our hotel concierge on the first day we were there, and I am only sorry that we only made it there on our last day. I could call this a dedicated gluten free restaurant since their gluten free menu is practically the same size as the regular menu (6-7 pages), and all the desserts they had that day were gluten free. We had our best meal of an already exemplary trip where food was concerned. It is well hidden in a small back street in Trastevere, so I suggest either a taxi or make sure you can use your phone GPS. Again, highly recommended if you are in Rome. Can't wait to go back.
