I had noticed on Da Garibaldi's website that they offer a gluten free menu, but I couldn't find a link to it, so I emailed the restaurant asking if they could send me information. They sent me the full gluten free menu, which was 7 pages, including antipasti/starters, pastas, main courses, salads, gluten free pizzas, and desserts! So glad I took the time to email them! They are also certified by the Italian Celiac Association, which always makes us feel comfortable. We had one of the best meals on our trip to Italy here. We started with gluten free bruschetta, which was perfect -- nice ripe tomatoes with a hint of salt, olive oil, and basil. I ordered the Tagliatelle al Cinghiale (fettuccine with wild board sauce, which seemed to be a specialty of this restaurant). It was similar to a beef stroganoff, with tender pieces of meat in a savory sauce mixed with perfectly cooked gluten free pasta which you'd never have guessed was gluten free. It was so incredibly delicious; I wish I could go back again just for this dish! You must order this if you go! Our sons both ordered burgers, which were available with homemade gluten free buns. Our older non-Celiac son got a regular bun which also appeared homemade and was reportedly delicious as well. The fries are also gluten free here. In fact, most things are gluten free, as reflected in comparing the size of the gluten free menu to the size of the regular menu (about the same). For dessert, we ordered both the Zuccotto alla Fiorentina (ricotta pudding, Florence style -- unique and quite good) and the Flan di Cioccolato Caldo, Salsa al Cioccolato Bianco (hot chocolate soufflé with white chocolate sauce which I was never offered a bit of because it was devoured by my son in a matter of a few minutes!). In fact, we liked Da Garibardi so much that we went back the next day for lunch, even though our intention had been to try another AiC certified restaurant that we hadn't tried yet. This time, we had the pleasure of meeting Sabrina, one of the owners -- and the woman I'd been in touch with via email before our trip. She told us all about how her daughter had many friends that were Celiac, so she and her husband decided to attend certification training for the restaurant so that they could offer a wide range of safe gluten free specialties. They make homemade gluten free pasta in several different shapes, gluten free gnocchi, and gluten free bread. You would never know any of them are gluten free if you weren't told. For this meal, I ordered the gnocchi with tomatoes and eggplant, my husband ordered the fettuccine with meat sauce, our older son ordered the fettuccine with wild boar sauce that I'd ordered (and loved) the night before, and our younger Celiac son ordered the fried fish, calamari, and shrimp platter. All were completely gluten free, and all were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It's in a central location, that staff is lovely, the food supurb, and they have both outside and indoor (air conditioned) seating. Take your pick, depending on the weather! We lucked out and had a rare temperate night (a nice break from the heat wave of the week), so we ate outdoors on the deck with an awning -- and opted to do the same the next day for lunch. Wish we had restaurants like this in the United States!

Da Garibardi is located in Firenze (Florence), the capital city of the region of Tuscany. Authentic Tuscan cuisine is the specialty here. A gluten free menu is available upon request, with many dishes to choose from. Risotto, pasta, pizza, main courses, and desserts are some of your options. For example, you may want to try the ravioli with ricotta, spinach gnocchi, or pasta with meat sauce. A gluten free chocolate flan is one of the dessert offerings.
