Not Celiac Friendly (But Doable On Your Own),

As of 2013, Colorado College was great at identifying products that contained gluten, but that was it. Gluten free labels occur similar to a vegan or vegetarian label. Additionally, if you're allergic to more than one food, you're going to be stuck at the salad bar, which is a cross-contamination nightmare.

Now, I know celiacs who have navigated Colorado College dining, but with frequent stomach aches. One of the best examples I can provide is the pizza station at an on-campus dining that offers "gluten free pizzas." According to the school these should be fine for a celiac. However, it goes through the small pizza machine with the gluten containing pizza line. Flour and all! This is fine if these were not the meals suggested for celiacs.

Having worked as a student worker with dining services, I was well aware that there is no allergy awareness for staff. There is no effort to prevent cross contamination for any student, including even simply changing gloves.

I personally petitioned to leave the meal plan successfully, but honestly, it was because I had other allergies that it was approved and it took awhile. Colorado College did receive one palm in my review because they do sell gluten free products. There is Udi's and prepackaged gluten free products for sale a la carte, but not enough that one could live off of to say the least.

If you go to Colorado College, find a way to get off the meal plan and then work your best to cook in the dorm kitchens. I did so successfully, and fortunately, after freshman year you can move to a location with better cooking access or a living, learning community.
