We just returned from the Atlantis. It was a family vacation. I had notified our travel agent about the gluten free diet. She contacted the resort and then I completed a form, which they need at least 2 weeks ahead in order to accomodate the dietary needs. The chef's in the Marketplace and Atlas Restaurants were great. We had a meal plan, so I would call before each meal and let them know what I'd like to eat, so that they could have the ingredients to make it. Every meal the chef would come to the table to double check my order and then would personally bring my food to me. They can do gluten free pizza, pancakes, desserts, muffins etc. I would reccommend bringing your own mixes, just because sometimes they are better tasting. We would defiantely return to this resort, mainly because they handled the gluten free diet very well.

Atlantis is a wonderful place to vacation. I was not overly impressed with the gluten free options. We chose the basic meal plan option which allowed us to eat at 4 different restaruants including breakfast and dinner. My husband did let the resort know of my needs and they did offer several suggestions on their menu. This is why we went with the meal plan. The breakfast was a buffet each day and they did have your basic, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, fruit etc.. but no gluten free specialites, breads, waffles ect.. When I asked the waitress about g/f options she did not understand me at all. I asked the chef and he geared me towards the foods that I already knew were safe. It became a bit redundant with the breakfast buffet each morning. The dinners were about the same. We had the option of buffet dining which again offered some chicken, steak, seafood, fruit, but no breads or dessert gluten free options. We did dine at a restaruant called Bimini Road in the Marina Village which was amazing! Because this was not a buffett I could order accorging to my needs and was much happier. This was just one of 2 sit down restaurants within our meal plan. We were not able to get into the other restaruant which reqired reservations. They were booked the entire time we were there. All 7 days!! My suggestion would to be to go with the gourmet meal plan which offers more restaruant options, or to skip the meal plan altogether, which would allow you more variety. You must make your restaruant reservations at least 2-3 weeks before. Otherwise you will be stuck like us with the buffet options. The resort is extremley expensive!!! So save up before you go for food and drinks. Breakfast for a family of 4 was about $100 and dinner was about $200. The lunches at the pool/ water park area have your typical burgers/ hot dogs. No real gluten free specialties. For lunch they did offer veges/ fruit for $9.00!! I believe with better planning on our end, it would have been a bit easier on me. I am the only one with food allergies so I just made the best of it. Call the resort ahead of time, they really will work with you. Our issue was we were not aware how important it is to make your dining reservations 2-3 weeks before you leave. They did not communicate this to us. We will not chose a meal plan option on our next visit. We will go back! It was an amazing vacation and we had a blast. Just be prepared and plan ahead and your dining experince will be a breeze! You can also travel off of the resort and go to the grocery store and buy snacks there. The Reef Restort in Atlantis offers condos with full size kitchens. Pack your own snacks and save yourself on knowing what you are eating and some money.

We chose to visit Atlantis last year because of the spectacular attractions AND the ability to accommodate a gluten free diet. We were pleasantly overwhelmed at every turn. At each meal, the head chef (there are over 40 restaurants on the property) came out to meet us and help us with course selection. If we told them where we would eat our next meal, they would make sure the gf items would be there. For example, if we knew we were eating breakfast in a particular restaurant, gf flour would be there along with a dedicated waffle maker. My daughter enjoyed gf pancakes, waffles and pastries for breakfasts. Dinners were over the top including sushi, steak, pork chops, ribs, fish and the meal always concluded with something fabulous; mousse, gf brownie, cake, you name it! The amenities at Atlantis are incredible but truthfully, the reason we will go back every year is because we can indulge at our meals with no worries.
