High end Italian dining in Newport Coast, CA,

This is a very high end restaurant in the Pelican Hill Resort along Newport Coast. (The resort also has another restaurant called Pelican Grill.) This restaurant, Andrea, is Italian, but don't think spaghetti and meatballs! They hand roll fresh pastas each day, have tableside prepared risotto, and an impressive wine list. It is pricey but good for a special occasion. You'll enjoy a nice view of the Pacific from most tables. On the night we were there, we were not in the mood for a multi-course meal, so we just ordered salads and entrees. Having just come from cocktails, we didn't order wine either. The baby mixed green salad with pine nuts, strawberries, and gorgonzola red wine dressing was outstanding and fresh, and all of the fish dishes we ordered (branzino, salmon, and a fish of the day hand filleted tableside) were delicious, albeit not terribly filling (rather small portions without many sides). The lamb chops (2 served) were also a big hit with my Dad. All of these things were gluten free, as everything is made from scratch, and the chef can accommodate gluten free and other special dietary requests (my Dad is also garlic free). They did bring gluten free bread upon request, which was toasted gluten free bread (okay, nothing to write home about). Although their hand rolled homemade pastas are off limits if you're gluten free, they do have other gluten free pasta that can be ordered with various sauces/preparations. The choices under each category of the menu are moderate -- not the most I've seen at Italian restaurants, to be sure, but more than a few options. Some of the preparations are a bit non-traditional, so perhaps take a look at the menu before making a reservation here. Here is a link to the Dinner Menu:

I'd give this restaurant a higher rating if there were more choices, markings that made it clear what was gluten free, and if the portions were a bit larger for the priciness of the food.
