Gluten free options at base of Whistler Mountain,

After learning from the Whistler Blackcomb website that there were a handful of places on the mountains that offered gluten free options, we decided to try Dusty's, at the Creekside base of Whistler Mountain. There was a bit of confusion when we first sat down (this is a full-service restaurant, not counter service) and asked our server to confirm that we could order the ribs for our son, who is gluten free due to Celiac. She wasn't sure about the rub they use on the ribs or the BBQ sauce, so we asked her to ask the chef, since we'd read that the ribs were GF on their website. She returned with good news: they were/are GF. The potato wedges that typically come with the ribs are not, however, because they are fried in a shared fryer that's used for breaded items. We got an assortment of crudités (raw veggies with dip) instead. Our son really enjoyed the ribs (as you can see from the photo which we didn't remember to take until after he'd devoured some!). Our server confirmed that they also have burgers with gluten free buns and many salads there that are gluten free. I had the Southwest Salad, which was very large and very good, with a wonderful homemade lime dressing. One note: A few days earlier we had a less than optimal experience at another restaurant at the base of the mountain that had GF buns, but one of the chefs said their burgers weren't even gluten free. He said there was really nothing we could eat at that restaurant. (I will say, however, that it was not one of the restaurants listed on the webpage referenced above, which spells out what GF options are available at some of their restaurants.) We always packed gluten free snacks in the pockets of our big ski jackets so we'd always have something "just in case." A good plan no matter where you are...
