| I know this is a travel site and although I didn't find this store in my travels, I live in an area that gets lots and lots of visitors so I wanted to share this. The Skinny Pantry in Fort Myers, FL has an extensive selection of Gluten Free products from grocery items, cereals, pastas, cookies, snacks and bread, to frozen foods. The owner is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The store is not a "Big Box" store so the personal service she provides is invaluable. During my many visits in to this store, I have heard her talking with people who are visiting our area and she has arranged special orders of their favorite foods and gone the extra mile. The store also hosts a support group for people with Celiac Disease. If you are traveling through or visiting SW FL I would highly recommend a visit to The Skinny Pantry.

| We were so pleasantly surprised at the delicious gluten-free dinner we experienced at this resort! The manager had advised us earlier in the day that the chef would be most happy to create a meal without gluten, or cross-contamination, and assured us that he was very familiar with gluten allergies. The chef created for us a lovely Sea Bass with lemon butter sauce (which he made specially for us!), steamed fresh broccolini, and jasmine rice. It was the most flavorful (and visually pleasing) meal we enjoyed the entire week we were in Palm Beach! And the oceanfront dining room views were perfect. Our server was very kind and helpful in creating the meal and going back and forth between us and the chef. For dessert we chose a refreshing bowl of mango sorbet with fresh blueberries. Kudos to the staff at Solu for making this such a unique and tasteful dining experience! |

| I was diagnosed with Celiac less than a year ago, and this was my first vacation being gluten free. I did a lot of research online to see whether it would be best to go to a resort or on a cruise. There seemed to be a lot of great reviews about carnival on the web, and their website stated that they could accommodate many different diets, including gluten free. There were, however, just as many reviews by people saying Carnival didn't go out of their way whatsoever for them. I wen't into it with no real expectations, knowing it was the luck of the draw.
We (my boyfriend and I) just got back from our cruise a few days ago, and I can say that I would cruise again with Carnival, with no hesitation at all.
I didn't have to fill out a sheet explaining my allergy like many have before me, apparently they don't do that anymore. All I had to do was call guest services and notify them of my intolerance to gluten and it was all set. They told me to go speak to the matre d' when I got on board to tell them as well.
The first night we went to the dining room, I got a bit nervous and thought that this was going to be a mistake. When I sat down I told our waiter that I had to order a special gluten free meal (as the matre d' had told me to tell my waiter). My waiter said that the meals had to be ordered special the night before. This was where I started to panic. I just gave my waiter and my boyfriend a blank stare because I didn't know what else to do. I had no idea what on the menu I was alowed to have. After a few moments hesitation the waiter seemed to have an idea and offered to go get the hostess so she could help me order. From there the rest was complete smooth sailing. The hostess was absolutly amazing and extreamly knowledgeable. She came over and introduced herself, and she told me which items on the menu were gluten free that night. After my meal she came over to ask how my dinner was and gave me the menu for the next day's meals and took my order for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the following day. She let me choose whatever I wanted and they made it gluten free. I had gluten free bread brought to my table every night (didn't taste the greatest but it was a very nice gesture that I had bread served to me just like everyone else at the table). And they brought it in a separate basket so there was no cross contaimination. They also had gluten free french toast, pancakes and pasta. For dessert on the last night they brougt me out their famous chocolate melting cake made especially gluten free for me, without me even ordering it! That was such a nice gesture. I did not feel left out at all while eating in the dining room. 2 or 3 of the nights my boyfriend and I actually ate the same meal (his prepared normal and mine gf). I didn't miss out on bread like I am used to doing at restaurants or even desserts!
The buffet is a slight different story. Breakfast was easy becuase I could have the eggs (make sure they are real and not egg substitute) bacon, potatoes, coffee, etc. lunch was a lot harder. I ended up eating a hotdog w/o a bun and fries anyday that we didn't make it to the dining room on time. I am not sure if the fries have cross contamination or not.. I am not extreamly sensitive as I know some people are, so I would double check before you eat the fries if you are extreamly sensitive. One night we tried to eat dinner in the buffet because I know my boyfriend wanted to try it, but we ended up going to the dining room because there was nothing that I knew I could eat, except for a baked potato. I brought gf snacks with me, just in case, but I never touched them. There is a huge variety of food and there always seems to be something to eat. There was room service, but seemed like it was just sandwiches on the menu which was kind of unfortunate.
Overall I had an amazing experience, one that definatly surpassed my expectations.
I was very pleased with how knowlegeable the hostess was and how willing they were to prepare anything I wanted off the menu. I am so used to going into restaurants and the wait staff not even knowing what gluten was so this was a very pleasant change.
I can't say for all Carnival ships but I can definatly vouch for the Inspiration. Absolutly outstanding. |

| Pizza Fusion is a chain with locations in 7 states and offers gluten-free pizza and other gluten-free options. My wife and I shared the Pear and Gorgonzola salad as well as
the Big Kahuna pizza. Both were exceptional in terms of taste
and quality. This was only our second visit to Pizza Fusion, but
surely will not be the last. I also noticed the water served was
pure, no chlorine taste just very refreshing. |

| When in the mood for Mexican, we usually end up going here. Wonderful casual dining with gluten-free options of corn tacos and/or corn tortillas. No specific GF menu, but wait-staff very cooperative and meal has always been served as requested (gluten and dairy-free)...... just have to be sure to tell them your dietary needs. |

| We had a great week at the Club Med in Florida, and they were
very accommodating with gluten free.
Prior to our arrival, I called the reception to ask about GF. My
answer from them was awful – no knowledge of GF, no way to
do it, etc. However, I figured that I could work it out when we
got there. We’re very glad we went!
Once we arrived, I met with the head chef. He was extremely
knowledgeable and despite being very busy with spring
breakers, gave me all the time I needed. He sought out my son
and introduced himself, and made sure that my son knew he
could ask questions anytime. He offered to cook my son’s
French fries in separate oil. He tore the side off the French fry
and the soft serve ice cream box to show me the ingredients
(both GF). He brought flourless chocolate cake to our table. He
made suggestions as to good dishes to try, etc, etc. One of the
nights we sat with the purchasing agent, and he told me that
they have more and more GF requests and that they are
making a concerted effort to get more educated. (They *do
not* have a dedicated work area or grill however).
While they cannot guarantee no cross contamination, Club Med
made every effort to make our meals an enjoyable part of the
trip.

| This was the first time we have eaten out since our 8 year old son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 4 months ago. I was very nervous, but we called ahead and told them we were coming, and ate an early 5pm dinner.
I was so happy with everything! The waiter was awesome. He was very sweet with my son, answered all my questions, and then had me look at the food before he served it to my son! We will definitely be back!!
It was a wonderful experience! |

| Finally I can eat pizza, but better yet I can actually enjoy it. Gourmet Pizza Company in Hyde Park started offering gluten free pizza crust, so we went to give it a try with many reservations, being that my experience with gf pizza has been sub par. All I can say is WOW, their pizza is amazing. First off, their crust is not only gf but also vegan and completely allergen free. So no eggs, soy, milk, nuts, shellfish, fish and most importantly no wheat. They offer it in 10-inch crust only which is perfect for one and the entire crust is only 300 calories and packed with fiber (which the body loves). To describe the crust, its between thin and regular with an actual crust edge. It has flavor, but not overwhelming flavor like most and no bitter after taste like many that I have ingested. The toppings are endless from pepperoni to shrimp to smoked guoda cheese. Their pizza sauce is incredible. Not too sweet, not too tangy, with a hint a garlic. We had their Chicken Smoked Gouda Pizza and the Cheeseless Vegan and they were both out of this world. Next time we go I am trying the BBQ Chicken and the Steak Gorgonzola Pizza. As for their policy that they implement for no cross-contamination, they only use GF Rice Flour to dust all their regular pizzas, so any flour that may settle throughout their restaurant is SAFE, they use special screens for cooking, use a separate sauce container and ladle, separate pizza cutter, and all their toppings are gf with the exception of the Thai Sauce. They also offer gluten free vegan cookies and will soon be carrying cupcakes and beer as-well. This is a great find for us, the staff is very well trained and very aware of the seriousness of cross contamination. I felt that I was in very good hands and after having eaten there 6 times in 2 months I, in fact, was in good hands. Thank you for offering gf crust, for making it taste so good and for taking all the extra special precautions for making it safe. |

| Disney had wonderful gluten free options for my 5 year old. Their chicken fingers are amazing - ask for them everywhere. Good idea to contact Dine at Disney and book some places ahead of time - but the chef at EVERY SINGLE restaurant has gluten free options and will come out and take the time to show you what they have etc.
Awesome experience! |

| I first visited Viitals a couple of months ago (and visit quite regularly). I was immediately greeted with a smile. As I glanced over the menu, the owner began to describe how they create their products, the “science behind the food”, the ingredients used, and the even offered sample for me to try. I originally just went in to order a sandwich (since quality GF bread is so difficult to find in my area), and I left there with SEVERAL products. After having just a few bites of my sandwich (I had the REVIVE, which is still my personal favorite), I knew I had struck gold! I now visit Viitals on almost a weekly basis. You could say I’m addicted, but the food is so good! I start every morning off with one of their GF Protein Muffins (they have Blueberry, Rasberry, Pumpkin Spice, and Banana), I use their Pizza Crust when I’m making Pizza (and a local Pizza shop now serves their crust as well!), I have given their beautiful GF/Vegan Cookies as gifts to friends, and I am constantly buying their bread! In fact, I even bought a loaf of their bread and used it when I made my “stuffing” for my turkey on Christmas ---- let me tell you, AMAZING! I honestly cannot say enough about this gem! They even have wireless internet so you can have lunch meetings there! Their prices are reasonable, and you can tell that the owners take a true interest in their customers and each visit is personable. If you are GF, DF, Vegan, or just want a great lunch I encourage you to try this place out! You will NOT be disappointed! |

| I chose this resturant on our recent trip because they were reported to have a GF menu. Staff did not know what I was talking about and although they reported that they had gone "online," they could not locate one. My daughter and I, both sensitive to Gluten, were disappointed and settled for a hamburger, no bun - she had to send hers back because they added fried onion rings, although we had repeatedly cautioned staff. |

| This place is an upscale chinese food restaurant, complete with
a similar calibre of atmosphere, decor, people, and a desire to
please. You don't have to talk with anyone in particular upon
arrival as all the staff know the specifics of a gluten free meal.
There is a large selection of gluten free items as the entire back
page of the menu is specific to this diet. The quality of the food
is excellent and could not taste the difference between the
standard prepared food and the gluten free food (neither could
my wife who is the one with celiacs). They were very careful
with dietary needs in general and if you tried to mix things up
they were more then welcoming to this, but the servers also
knew enough to say whether your idea would work or not for
your diet.
In the several times we visited this establishment while on
vacation here, the quality was high, consistent, taste was
excellent (some of the best chinese food I have ever had), the
gluten free menu was a real menu and not just something
with the bread removed - many breaded items had light gluten
free breading too - you would never know if someone did not
tell you. You will not be disappointed and you can do takeout
also. |

| This Italian restaurant is all over Tampa Bay and I called before
going on vacation to ask about a restaurant being gluten free.
They confirmed yes. I assumed they all are as many gluten
free sites claim.
Another location was selected, one east of Westshore Plaza
Mall, and it turned out they did not have gluten free pasta like
the other one claimed on the phone. They did have a gluten
free menu if you asked for it, but like some places, it was not a
true gluten free menu, just some items with the typical gluten
items removed. This was disappointing.
Despite this, the staff did provide a decent meal. The service
was good, and portions large. The atmosphere was nice and
was like an Italian eatery style restaurant, not just a cafe. But
if you are looking for gluten free pasta, try calling another
location and stick to that one.
Alternatively, try Uno Chicago as they have good gluten free
pasta and pizza - tried them in other locations and it is good;
Maggiano's at Westshore is another try but did not eat there. |

| For all you gluten free cruisers out there, Carnival has
improved their gluten free options.
Just travelled on Carnival's Legend with a group of friends so
we went, but only as the cruise line said that they were now
good at accommodating gluten free needs.
They were, kind of.
Past experiences on both Carnival and Holland (Carnival's
upscale line) were both disasters for gluten free eating. The
past trips found the gluten free food selection to be terrible, of
poor quality/taste, and was not a true gluten free menu, just
glutened items removed or poor attempts at bread/dough
based items like bread.
This time was much improved, although the bread was still
inedible. There were at least 2 main dish selections, 2+
appitizers, salads, and at least one soup and always a dessert.
Sometimes they used gluten-free ingredients to make the
menu selection, but sometimes gluten filled items were simply
removed. It was hit and miss, but I did not starve this time.
Dessert was great some nights, but fruit or ice cream were the
only options on other nights.
While the cruise was the worst out of 6 we've been on, I am
not rating the trip, but the meals. Also keep in mind, on other
ships under the same line, there may be a different response
or ability to adapt to your gluten free needs as we have found.
This seems to be the case with Carnival and it's affiliated lines.
If you want to go on these lines because of the group you want
to be with you will survive ok and get glutened. But if you
have the choice, NCL will take care of you well. |

| NCL has the best setup to accomodate gluten free diets out of
all the major cruise lines.
We have been on 6 cruises on four different lines, and so far
found NCL has the best gluten free food. This being said, I
cannot vouch for Princess, Celebrity (the latter I understand
does claim to suit meals to your gluten free needs).
As for NCL, they are the best because they are prepared with
the right ingredients for gluten free food and they prepare all
meals to suit on demand. This means they have rice pasta,
and if you order any dish from the menu, on the spot (no pre-
ordering the night before), they will make it completely gluten
free, without comprimising the dish in any way. So if it has a
sauce on it, it will be on there, less the wheat flour in it.
I must clarify, that on occation, there were unable to prepare a
dish, because of key, specific ingredients used for that dish
which cannot be replicated gluten free, of which the whole dish
hinged on. There was one time side dish and sauce could not
be made for this reason, but recommended some substitute for
this that went well with the main part of the meal.
Yes, they had real gluten free pizzas, pastas, breads, and
sauces and they all tasted really great. So far they have also
been consistant, but time will tell. For this reason we will now
only use this line and recommend it to anyone else.
Now before you say that the gluten free food cannot be that
good as other reports are that the food is not good to start with
on NCL, consider what the bad review is comparing too. I (me
the non-gluten free eater who writes this in behalf my spouse)
found that the food is not in the category of fussion, or exotic.
It will not be spicy or too out there. This is often available on
other lines and some high end restaurants. But I have also
heard many say they did not like those types of foods as well,
so NCL may be leaning to the other side of person tastes. Also
the main dining room did not have as much selection as other
did. This being said, the buffet was great, and better than any
other I had seen at sea, also the specialty restaurants were
exceptional, with a cover charge of $5-20 per person (a small
cost compared to the total trip overall). The food in general is
more geared to family fare than exotic, foreign, adult only
dining meals. Remember if you want your curried lamb really
hot, tell the waiter, as the food is made to order and not just
prepared the same for everyone.
Food on some other ships overall were better to some extent,
not significantly though and some ships had worse food overall.
NCL is consistant and you will be well taken care of. I have
rated the food based on a combination of overall food quality in
general and also took into consideration the gluten free side of
things. |

| We went on a Disney Cruise Line vacation in Sept. of 05 and in the beginning had a few reservations concerning my Celiac Disease and the ability to safely eat on the cruise without getting ill. Not only did Disney Cruise Lines meet my needs but they far exceeded anything I could have imagined. A Chef came out to our table to greet me on the first day there and cooked me a delicious meal. Not only did he make sure that I had good, safe food for that meal, but he came to see me at every meal while there and not only helped me choose a meal from the menu, but also said that he would fix me whatever I wanted, even if it wasn't on the menu. As far as I am concerned, I couldn't have had a better experience. Any Disney owned property that we have stayed at has gone out of their way to accommodate me and my food allergy and to date, I have never had a better eating experience before or after being diagnosed with Celiac Disease as I did on the Disney Cruise. |

| Kouzina is located on the Boardwalk @ the Boardwalk Hotel in Disney World. This restaurant is formally known as "Spoodles." Kouzina is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We have only eaten there for breakfast. They don't have any characters which makes the breakfast more affordable and less crowded. My daughter is 8 and can't eat gluten. She can order pretty much anything she wants there for breakfast. They offer GF pancakes, waffles, french toast, toast, eggs, bacon etc... After breakfast you can take a boat ride at the hotel to either Hollywood Studios or Epcot. For those of you that like to walk off breakfast you can walk over to Epcot easily. For a longer walk you could walk to Hollywood Studios but it is pretty far - I would not recommend it but it is possible. |

| MaMa Melrose is located in Hollywood Studios. It is an Italian Restaurant but dont let that deter you from eating there if you are on a gluten free diet. My daughter is 8 years old and can't eat gluten. We chose to eat at MaMa Melrose because they offer a "Fantasmic Package," which means we can eat there and also get reserved seats for the Fantasmic Show later that night. Which is wonderful because then you dont have to stand in line for hours before the show just to try and get a seat. My daughter was given several warm gluten free rolls to start with, she had a salad and then for dinner she had Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken - it tasted great! For dessert she had several options but she chose a sundae. |

| If you enjoy a Character Buffet Breakfast then this is a great place to eat when visiting Animal Kingdom. They offer so much food and a chef will walk you through the buffet line and let you know what is and is not gluten free. Items that can't be found at the buffet area the chef will gladly make for you in the kitchen and bring it out to your table. They can make GF mickey waffles, pancakes etc. They also have an assortment of gluten free donuts and muffins. We enjoyed the donuts but did not like the muffins. The donuts and muffins were both made by Kinnikinnick. When we were there they were carving a fresh ham and it was AMAZING. My daughter loved the fresh ham and is still talking about it. We already made reservations to eat here again for our next trip in Apirl 2010. |

| Raglin Road is located @ Downtown Disney. It is an Irish Pub. We enjoy eating there because my husband is Irish and he really enjoys the food and we all love the atmosphere. However, even though they can accomodate the gluten free diet with no problems, there are not a lot of options. My daughter usually gets a steak and the kettle fries and that is plenty for her. For dessert the only thing she can get is ice cream. The food is wonderful and I would recommend this restaurant - there are just not a lot of options. We visit this restaurant at least once per trip when we go. |

| The Flyin Fish is located @ the Boardwalk Hotel. They offer fresh seafood and steak. My daughter is only 8 and does not eat seafood. I am sure that they offer amazing gluten free seafood; however, we have not tried any of it yet. For dinner my daughter usually gets an amazing steak with french fries. For dessert they have there own signature dessert for kids. They offer a white chocolate mickey puzzle that they get to paint with a paint brush and then eat. It normally comes with a cupcake but for my daughter they give her a gluten free brownie that is decorated with whip cream, disney sprinkles etc... She loves it!!! A few tips for this restaurant. If the restaurant is booked, there is a bar that you can eat at, or there is a chef's table that you can also eat at where you can see the chefs cooking while you are dining. You don't need reservations for these areas and they usually have availability. Also, this is an expensive meal so what we do sometimes is go to the bar just for dessert and the kids enjoy the puzzle and we get a few drinks and a dessert as well and everyone is happy. |

| We had heard that the Olive Garden Restaurant had a gluten free menu but what could possibly be on there menu that is gluten free? Well recently they built a new Olive Garden near where we stay at the Paradise Palms Resort and we decided to be adventurous and try it. My daughter knew before we went that she might have to just eat a salad but she didnt care because we all wanted to see what it was all about. Well to our surprise they now offer gluten free pasta. We were told that the pasta is made by the Olive Garden. It tasted really good - not the best we have had but really good. My daughter got the penne pasta with marinara sauce and she really enjoyed it. There was surprisingly a nice assortment of gluten free meals. She was so full that she skipped desert. I rated this restaurant a 4 Palms only because unlike Disney World you dont have a chef coming to your table and handling your meals personally which is why I always give Disney restaurants a 5 Palms rating. |

| I am living on a gluten free diet, mandatory. I live in NYC and run a major hotel and even there I cannot get a menu that is completely free of flour. This little gem of a restaurant was able to advise me up front of which meal selections I could choose (There were quite a few). As a matter of fact, most of the menu was gluten free. The chef explained that he readily uses rice or corn flower as substitutes and nothing is deep fried. It's a small cool getaway restaurant with great service, and I left happy. Goes to show, the bigger chains are missing out on a niche market. |

| Everytime I have ever been in an Emeril's restaurant, my needs have been met and without a second thought. I am lactose and Gluten intolerant, egg and oil sensitive. Armed with that information, the chef formulated a dish off the main menu to meet my needs. Another person at my table ordered the same dish off the main menu without alterations and the non GF Food allergy members of the group sampled the 2 dishes side by side and concurred that they were the same but that mine tasted better and lighter! BRAVO Emeril! |

| My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease two years ago. We have curtailed all of our travel because it was so hard to ensure that she could remain gluten free. Our trips have been visiting family and short trips to the beach with precooked meals. In November, we booked a last minute trip to Disney World. We were not sure what to expect and shipped a lot of food to the hotel. What we found in Disney, was amazing. Chef Tim, at the Grand Floridian was amazing. He made sure that my daughters meal with safe (gluten free), healthy and tasted delicious. He exceeded our expactations. He was completely knowledgable about gluten and accidental exposure. We felt safe and my daughter did not feel limited. In fact, we were more comfortable dining in the hotel, then restaurants with gluten-free menus in our area. I highly recommend. |

| Disney does do GF!
Our family of 4 (2 are GF) traveled for 6 days to Walt Disney World Resort this summer. What a great experience!
Before leaving home - I researched each restaurant before making reservations to be sure there were enjoyable food options for us. (see allears.net). Reservations must be made well in advance to assure you can dine at your chosen restaurant. (we planned our trip in 9 days - and did just fine).
We purchased the dining plan - 1 table meal/1 counter meal and 1 snack each day. More than enough food for anyone.
At each table service restaurant - the chef came to our table to review what GF options were available. Our first evening we dined at Tony's Town Square. I enjoyed shrimp scampi with warm dinner rolls......yum. The dessert choices were limited - most evenings only ice cream was available.
We dined at 2 buffets - Mickey's backyard BBQ and 1900 Park Fare. I would avoid buffets if possible on our next trip. But to be fair - 1900 Park Fare prepared plates in the kitchen for us to avoid cross contamination.
We also dined at the Captains Grille in the Yacht Club Resort. It wasnt part of our plan but it worked on a very rainy night. The food was good - but Chef Alberts special dessert for my daughter made the vacation. He put together a GF brownie, chocolate sauce.....there was more to it, but i cant recall the details. It looked SO special, tasted delicious - she was all smiles. It was Disney Magic.
Many times for lunch we ate at counter service restaurants. I have to be honest - i got a little tired of chicken fingers and french fries by the end of our vacation - but there were a few lights that shone.....Flame Tree BBQ in the Animal Kingdom Park was a welcome change for lunch. Very good.
Plan to wait at least 30 minutes for your specially prepared GF foods at the counter service restaurants - but that's the price you pay for safety.
Overall - the food was quite good. Not over the top gourmet but you could eat a different GF meal every night of your vacation. That's worth something to me.
Our previous vacations have all involved either renting a home or a hotel mini suite with a kitchen to make it through a GF vacation. And the moms out there know what that means - cooking on vacation. Not the worst thing to do but our Disney vacation was a true getaway for our entire family. |

| No matter what you think of Disney, they take care of their GF guests! At every resturant we ate at my daughter and I were greeted by the chef. If the meal was a buffett we were briefed on what was GF then our order was taken and our meal was assembled in the kitchen so as not to risk contamination on the buffett line. Nearly any item on the main menus could be made GF, even the chicken nuggets. By the end of the week my husband and older daughter were feeling left out as we got all the attention at meals. It was a great family vacation! |

| This was our first morning of our Disney trip, and we had
reservations at the Tusker House restaurant in the Animal
Kingdom's "Africa" section. They had quite a spread of
wonderful food at the buffet, as Disney always does! Much of it
was NOT gluten-free, of course (like the pastries), but plenty of
it was safe. One of the chefs came to our table to introduce
himself and then walked us through the buffet. Our son chose
scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and fruit. The chef also
offered to make him gluten-free "Mickey"-shaped waffles,
which our son really enjoyed -- they looked just like the
"regular" ones other kids were able to get from the buffet.
There were also some other things that were gluten-free on
the buffet that our son didn't happen to try, like the ham
roasted on a spit and some egg dishes similar to crustless
quiches which I seem to recall were gluten-free. This is a fun
place to dine with kids -- it was a "Character Breakfast" with
Donald, Mickey, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. And the range of food
and "African-inspired" dishes was a really nice change from the
typical breakfast buffet. For those who CAN ingest gluten,
there was a too-die-for cinnamon banana bread pudding with
vanilla sauce and some unique dishes like a coconut sweet
potato and raisin casserole (may have been g-f -- I just can't
remember). If our 6-year old son was more adventurous, he
easily could have veered beyond the bacon-eggs-waffle choices,
with the guidance of the chef. |

| T Rex Restaurant is located in "Downtown Disney" on the
Disney property in Orlando, Florida. It, not surprisingly, is
owned by the same company that owns the Rainforest Cafe
(the decor is very similar...just focused on dinosaurs instead of
rainforest animals). It is NOT part of the Disney Dining Plan,
which our family was on, but we decided to dine there
nonetheless. It was fun, but very noisy and overstimulating
(even compared to the overall Disney experience!) You could
barely have a conversation in the restaurant with all the noise
and the "shows" that occur about every 20 minutes or so
(with the dinosaurs "coming to life"). But our boys (ages 6 and
8) enjoyed it. The room in the center is like an Ice Cave, and
the lighting changes color throughout the evening. Now...for
the food...this restaurant does NOT have a gluten-free menu,
but the chef came out and was happy to accommodate where
possible. Our son on the g-f diet chose the mahi-mahi fish
tacos, which were available blackened or with breaded fish
(obviously off-limits for him). We ordered him the fish just
grilled, not blackened, and of course they were served on corn
tortillas. It came with a choice of sides, many of which were
gluten-free. He opted for the black beans and carrots. I, too,
ordered the fish tacos, blackened. They were DELICIOUS...a
nice small filet of mahi-mahi in both tacos, and topped with
cabbage, pico de gallo, and a wonderful avocado cream sauce
(chef wasn't sure if this was g-f...check first with the chef if
you order this...we opted not to have it on my son's order, just
in case). They have a decent kids menu, although most things
are gluten-laden, so gluten-free diners really have to order
from the adult menu. Chicken and steaks were two other
options my son could have gone with, as well as grilled fish. My
husband (not a Celiac) ordered their traditional lasagna, which
was quite good. The range of food here is nice...everyone will
find something they like on the menu, and if you can stand the
noise, the atmosphere is fun. Just ask to talk to a chef about g-
f options when you are seated. |

| We had lunch at this "quick-service" restaurant at Disney's
Animal Kingdom park. The choices ranged from BBQ ribs to
rotisserie chicken to hot dogs to fresh salads tossed with the
rotisserie chicken. Our son, who is the one on a gluten-free
diet, opted for the kids' chicken drumstick order (it came with
TWO drumsticks, as well as carrots and grapes -- something
Disney offers as part of kids meals, a nice change from fries).
The gluten-free rotisserie chicken was delicious...I had it as
part of the salad I ordered. The ribs, which my husband
ordered, were supposedly g-f as well. They were decent...not
the best we've ever had, but not bad. So there's a nice range
of tasty, healthy, g-f options here...I'd recommend the chicken
or the tossed salad with chicken. |

| Liberty Inn is a quick-service/counter service restaurant at
Epcot Center's American Pavilion. They have plenty of good 'ol
American choices on the menu for people following gluten-free
diets. They offer hamburgers and hot dogs, both with gluten-
free buns, as well as Amy's gluten-free pizza or mac-n-cheese.
Our son opted for the mac-n-cheese, one of his favorite quickie
meal staples at home. The kids meals come with two sides,
including a choice of a gluten-free brownie or chocolate chip
cookie from the French Pantry which makes excellent gluten-
free baked goods, individually packaged so you never need to
worry about cross-contamination. The "regular" menu is
average here: burgers, barbeque pork sandwiches, roast beef
and cheese sandwiches...fine for kids but there are probably
more interesting places to eat among all the wonderful global
cuisine available within Epcot's World Showcase of countries,
and most countries have gluten-free options. |

| Le Cellier Steakhouse, located in the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot
Center, is one of the more popular places to dine at Epcot.
Reservations are required -- usually months in advance, and
don't expect to get seated earlier than your reservation if you
arrive early (we tried!). The food is great, however...mostly
steaks, with some other meat options as well as entrees like
salmon on the menu. As with most steakhouses, it's a pretty
safe bet for people with Celiac. Their steaks aren't marinated,
so they are all "safe." Our son ordered one with a side of
mashed potatoes (very good). They brought him celery and
carrot sticks as an appetizer, and he had an ice cream sundae
for dessert. It would be smart for them to offer gluten-free
bread as an option, since they bring regular breadsticks to the
table. This isn't hard to do, as they have gluten-free rolls at
some of the other Disney restaurants where we've dined. And
unfortunately their famous cheese soup is NOT gluten-free
since the recipe calls for beer. But all in all, a really nice
restaurant (but you can still dress casually, as with almost all
the Disney restaurants) that has a good range of gluten-free
options and friendly, attentive service. |

| This was our second time eating at the "Pooh and Friends"
Character Breakfast at the Magic Kingdom's Crystal Palace
restaurant. They have one of the more extensive buffets, with
plenty of gluten-free options...not just scrambled eggs, bacon,
and sausage. The chef made our son gluten-free waffles
(frozen, this time, not the Mickey shaped ones made fresh at
the Tusker House Restaurant at Animal Kingdom) and also
offered him blueberry or chocolate chip muffins (he opted for
one of each...one to eat then, and "one for the road"). There
was some nice fruit...mixed berries, fresh pineapple, and whole
strawberries, so our son was plenty full by the time the meal
was over! This is a fun place for a character breakfast for kids
when visiting the Magic Kingdom. Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and
Tigger come to the table for photo-ops and also have a "parade"
around the restaurant. As always, the staff is wonderful to
people following special diets and will walk you through the
buffet and make special items for you in the kitchen when
available. |

| We ate in the food court here one morning for breakfast, and we
were pleasantly surprised to find that they could make gluten-
free pancakes or waffles (our son opted for gluten-free chocolate
chip pancakes!). They also had eggs, bacon, and sausage -- all
gluten-free -- as well as fruit and yogurt (Yoplait, which is gluten-
free, is available at all the buffets, in all the parks, and at the
various hotels and resorts on the property). A nice surprise at a
limited-service food court where we were expecting a limited
range of choices. Thanks Disney! |

| Pinocchio Village Haus is a counter-service restaurant in the
Fantasyland area of Disney's Magic Kingdom. They specialize in
pizza, chicken baskets and salads. They have Amy's gluten-free
pizza available, which is what our son ordered, and it was cooked
quickly and just perfectly -- better than it turns out at home
(there's something to be said about commercial ovens!). It was
nice to ALL be able to eat pizza together. There were also plenty
of gluten-free sides available, like at most counter-service
restaurants in the parks: carrots, grapes, yogurt. |

| Hollywood and Vine is a diner-style restaurant in Disney's
Hollywood Studios. We dined there with our kids for one of the
Character Breakfasts, with characters from Little Einsteins and
JoJo's Circus. The buffet breakfast wasn't as extensive as some,
but still adequate. There were scrambled eggs, as well as
various other egg dishes/casseroles that were gluten-free...and
of course all the normal "safe" staples like bacon, sausage, fruit
and yogurt. The chef, who first walked us around the buffet,
also made our son gluten-free pancakes in the back. Breakfast
tends to be pretty safe at all the Disney restaurants...it would
just be nice to have a bit more variety...perhaps occasionally
offering things like gluten-free bagels, donuts, muffins, or
pastries. |

| This is a counter-service restaurant at Hollywood Studios, nestled
between the Indiana Jones stunt show and the Star Wars Star
Tours ride. They have hamburgers and hot dogs, both available
with gluten-free buns, but the manager actually recommended
their gluten-free chicken tenders. So we went with those for our
son. They were good, albeit a bit overcooked. They came with
applesauce and an individually-wrapped gluten-free brownie from
the French Pantry (delicious). There was a salad with grilled
chicken which I think may have also been gluten-free, and that's
about the extent of the gluten-free options from that menu. |

| I have eaten the GF pizza, fettuccini, and cheese ravioli. Meals are served with a side salad and GF bread, all fantastic! I have never left unhappy, hungry, or without a doggy bag! They have a great menu, and even offer non-dairy options and GF desserts. This is a must-stop for those who are GF and searching for a great Italian meal (or pizza)! They also have a non-GF menu, for those who eat glutten. It's a win-win option! |

| Our family travels to Orlando several times a year to visit the
Disney theme parks. We typically stay in a pool home or a
townhouse with our own private pool – yes, they do exist! -- in
a resort community just outside of Disney so that we can have
our own kitchen and our own private pool. We cook some of
our meals in, eat others at the Disney-owned restaurants, and
also dine at some of the Celiac-friendly restaurants outside the
Disney property.
Disney -- as you probably know -- accommodates the gluten-
free diet very well. We NEVER have any problems with them
accommodating our daughter even if we don't have advance
reservations. We have also found that many restaurants in the
Orlando area accommodate the gluten-free diet as well. Here
are some of our favorite places to eat gluten-free, both inside
and outside the parks.
EPCOT
Typically we park at the Boardwalk Hotel and eat breakfast at
Spoodles when we are planning to go over to EPCOT. They are
never crowded, and it’s nice to start the day at the Boardwalk.
At Spoodles, you can get gluten-free pancakes, waffles, French
toast, etc. They have an "All American Breakfast" that our
daughter loves. It comes with two eggs any style, breakfast
potatoes, bacon, fresh fruit and gluten-free French toast. You
can then take the boat or walk over to EPCOT. We choose to
take the short walk because it’s great exercise after a big
breakfast. From the Boardwalk Hotel, you enter through
Epcot’s World Showcase. In EPCOT we have eaten dinner at
most countries in the World Showcase, and they all
accommodate our daughter with great gluten-free meals. Our
favorite restaurant in EPCOT, however, is LeCellier Steakhouse
in Canada.
Magic Kingdom
When we plan on going to Magic Kingdom we typically eat
breakfast at either Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Hotel,
Ohanas at the Polynesian, or 1900 Park Fair at The Grand
Floridian. All these locations have a breakfast buffet, but the
chef still always comes to our table to take my daughter’s
order. They will make her anything she wants and more! They
ALWAYS go above and beyond to please her. Eating at any of
these three restaurants for breakfast also enables us to leave
our car at the hotel and take the monorail to the Magic
Kingdom.
As for eating in Magic Kingdom for dinner, we have eaten at all
the restaurants there, and they all accommodate us. However,
we are not thrilled about the food, so we usually leave and go
to Outback, Longhorn, Smokey Bones, or one of the many
other Celiac-friendly restaurants just off the Disney property.
Recently I have heard about a restaurant at The Grand
Floridian called Narcoossees. It is located on the water of the
Seven Seas Lagoon. It is a “Signature Dining” seafood
restaurant and is expensive, but the amazing thing about it is
they have a water show at night on the Lagoon that you can
see from the restaurant. You can also see the fireworks for the
Magic Kingdom from the restaurant. Just ask the person taking
your reservation what time they'd recommend you make your
reservation in order to see both the water show and the
fireworks. We are definitely going to check this restaurant out
next time we visit.
Animal Kingdom
When we plan on going to Animal Kingdom we typically eat at
The Character Breakfast Buffet which is now at the Tusker
House Restaurant. We enjoy eating dinner at the Rainforest
Cafe on the way out of the park or we leave and go to the
Outback, Longhorn, or Smokey Bones nearby, depending on
what we’re in the mood for. It is so nice to have so many
options for us to choose from.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
When we plan on going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios we
usually eat at Spoodles on the Boardwalk and then take the
boat ride over to Hollywood Studios.
For Dinner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios we usually choose a
restaurant that offers us a “Fantasmic Package.” The package
is for dinner and tickets to the Fantasmic show. The tickets
allow you to enter the show separately from the rest of the
guests, and you’re seated in a reserved section. This option is
nice because you don’t have to try and get into the show an
hour or so before it starts in order to get seats. We just go in
right before the show starts and sit in the area already set
aside for guests with the “Fantasmic Package”.
We enjoy all the restaurants at Hollywood Studios. However,
we do favor The Brown Durby which is one of the restaurants
that offers the “Fantasmic Package.” At The Brown Durby, like
all of Disney’s restaurants, they offer many gluten-free options
for dinner. They also offer warm gluten-free dinner rolls with
our daughter’s meal.
Other Restaurants in and Outside the Disney Property
We also enjoy eating at T-Rex in Downtown Disney. It is new
and our kids love it. The food is better there than at the
Rainforest Café. However, it is noisy, and you need
reservations unless you're going off-season.
I also recommend Maggianos if you like Italian food. The chef
will come to the table to talk with you, and they have really
good gluten-free pasta. They are located on International Drive
in Orlando. http://www.maggianos.com/locations/detail.asp?
unit_id=001.025.0199
FYI
Disney World finally offers on-line dinning reservations on their
website. I have been waiting years for them to do that and
they finally did it! You can even input your food allergy
information when you make your reservations online. |

provide glutenfree breads, etc. and the waiters will be
helpful when you're ordering so that you don't accidentally order a food that has gluten (sauces in particular). All you need do, is advise them of your celiac condition when booking the cruise. |

| I have been on eight Holland American cruises and have had wonderful service each time. I do feel however, that they are getting better each time I go. This time I was told that they have hired a chef who only deals with special diets on board and that they can make almost anything that is on the menu to suit the gluten free diet. I had wonderful food and desserts, including gf pizza and gf pasta. |

|
| In December, 2008, I had occasion to eat at a Chili's
Restaurant on Sterling Road in Hollywood, FL. My grandson
had phoned ahead to ask if they had a Gluten-free menu and it
was his understanding that they did.
Somehow or other when we arrived and I asked the hostess
for their Gluten-free menu, she seemed bewildered by my
request. After calling for the manager and speaking with him
at length about my special dietary requirements, I was able to
order something I could eat.
My experience there was not favorable. I am of the opinion
that if a restaurant chain is willing to offer a Gluten-free menu,
their staff--from management to the kitchen staff to the
servers, should have some basic familiarity of what that
implies. Perhaps the Gluten-free menu was new to Chili's at
that time (December '08), and while it's unrealistic to expect a
thorough understanding of what eating Gluten-free means, it
was very disappointing that there was so little evidence by the
restaurant staff I encountered of any knowledge of it.
Later that afternoon, I contacted Chili's corporate office with
my comments. I hope that that served as a catalyst to
improve their awareness of providing information to all their
staff on Gluten-free food service and preparation.
Those restaurants, both independents and chains, who have
opted to provide a Gluten-free menu to the Celiac community
are to be commended for their effort, but In the end, it is our
responsibility to be cautious about our food choices when
eating out. |

| A Leed certified built restaurant housing the best organic and
gluten free pizza. All preparations are in separate areas, baking
pizzas on separate stones and using utensils used only when
preparing these dishes. All of the meat and vegetable toppings
are available on the gluten-free pizzas with the exception of
Sausage, Goddess Dressing and BBQ Sauce.
This particular Franchise had a liquor license offering two kinds
of gluten free beer and a list of organic wines. To finish off the
beer and pizza they offer a fresh homemade Gluten Free
Brownie served warm that can be topped off with ice cream!
During warm weather they have a large outdoor sitting area,
the inside only has room for about 30 people.
The menu is a little confusing and being a Franchise I highly
recommend discussing with the individual restaurant the
available toppings for gluten free pizza.
The menu also has salads, sandwiches and of course many
specialty pizzas on regular, multigrain or organic crusts.
Visit www.pizzafusion.com for available locations.
A wonderful casual place for adults with or without children. |

market was closed as we were having dinner late on a Friday

many GF options. Many choices are labeled on the menu and
ask your waiter for other options. The staff is well versed on
gluten free foods.
Live Organic Island Music is available on weekends along with
gluten free Tapas of Wild Hummus with gluten free quinoa fax
chips. The chips were wonderful. Both the entrees of Quinoa
Paella and the Gluten Free Gnocchi were very tasty and filling.

| Walt Disney world is the best place to go if you are celiac. I go at least twice a year because I know that I can eat safely and all of the restaurants and bakeries know what celiac disease is. I ate in at least 25 different places the last time I was there and I did not have a single reaction. At each restaurant the chef came to my table and told me what was safe for me to eat off the menu. At most places the chefs also offered to make me something that was not even on the menu. In addition, the candy stores, bakeries and hotels all had "allergy" sections with gluten free brownies and rice krispy treats.
I have been to Disney World numerous times and I will continue to go back so I can have fun, worry free, vacations.
Here are some great things to get...At the Brown Derby (In Hollywood Sudios) they have yummy tapioca rolls. They were delicious with the chicken dish they offer. Tony's Town Square (Magic Kingdom) has gluten free pizza. Tepanyaki (Epcot) has gluten free food that they will make in the kitchen even if you sit at the hibachi. The bakery at the boardwalk has great pre-packaged GF brownies. The BEST is breakfast. At all of the character breakfasts, even the buffets, the chefs will make fresh GF waffles (often in mickey shapes). If it is a buffet for the table the chefs always make a GF plate for the GF person. If it is regular buffet, the chefs will walk you around and show you what is safe to eat. If you are uncomfortable taking from a buffet, he or she will make you a plate in the kitchen and bring it to you. It really is the most magical place on earth! |

Bonefish is a chain restaruant that has a gluten free menu at all their locations throughout the U.S. Although their menu is limited, it was nice to know I could eat something safe. I ordered a greek salad, and a chicken dish with steamed veggies. The service was excellent, and I enjoyed my meal. We will go back again. |

| When you have multiple allergies, as well as celiac disease, eating out is not always easy. A couple of years ago my husband and I discovered Seasons 52. They are the most accommodating restaurant. The staff, from the hostess, to the waiters , to the chefs are most accommodating. Very caring, professional and they truly listen. The waiters jot down all the restrictions , go to the chef and voila, dinner is awesome. Waiters often make suggestions .
All the food is fresh and according to the seasons. How can anyone not like this place!!! |

| Terrific help from every Chef in all the Disney operated restaurants at Wilderness Lodge, French Quarters, and Floridian resorts. Just "ask for the chef"; and he will come out to your table to discuss your Gluten-free requirements. At the buffet-style restaurant at the Floridian he took me right to the buffet line and pointed out each item that was G-F. Thanks to all at WDW. |

| Wonderful food for all (gf and non gf). Call about a month ahead to request gluten free, then tell your head server your first night at dinner again and they will make sure you have an excellent meal every day/night. Stick to the sit down restaurants (avoid buffets due to CC) - I had dessert every night, gf pancakes for breakfast, gf pasta, etc. Brought my own bag of food on board and never had to eat any of it! We will definitely be going again next year! |

| Florida is state of the United States, and it is a very pleasurable and peaceful area for all ages and new couples. After our wedding I said to our family that I am going to honeymoon in Florida. When we reached Florida (Destin City) then I wondered about the locations and hotels because these hotels are very cheap and good. This hotel was suggested by http://www.hotelsatanywhere.com |

| I had a wonderful dining experience while visiting Universal Studios Orlando because of the wonderful care and service I got at Margaritaville.
A week before my trip I e-mail them seeing if they could help me with my gluten-free diet. Chef Dan contacted me, and put me at ease. He told me that they had experience preparing food safely for those with Celiacs. He also shared that they even carried Gluten-free rolls, brownies, and ice cream. The french fries were prepared in a dedicated fryer so they were safe as well. He even sent me the days and hours he would be working, so that he could personally be sure everything was prepared correctly and safely.
After that... I felt like I was in paradise before I left my house!!
Once there... Chef Dan took care of me just like he said he would. I was treated to a fantastic gluten-free cheeseburger and fries and ended the meal with a wonderful gluten-free brownie sundae.
We spent a several days in that park, and each day I had lunch there, each time great care was taken. The other gf options they had available chicken, vegetable, and rice.
Also at the time of my visit. Chef Dan was working on creating a gluten-free menu! So if your visiting in Orlando.... give them a call before you go to check gluten-free availability.

| My family and I are frequent travelers to Walt Disney World and have had a great experience with gluten free dining at all the parks and resorts. However, the best resort that we found for GF dining is the Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. In the Old Port Royale Food Court, every chef we spoke with was friendly, quick, knowledgeable about GF food and cooking, and willing to make anything my daughter desired, even from scratch. The chefs offered her GF chicken fingers, pizza, pasta, breads, pancakes, and much more and everything was delicious. However, my daughter's favorite item was the Mickey Mouse shaped GF waffles! I would HIGHLY recommend Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Walt Disney World for a great and stress free GF family vacation! |

| Maggiano's is an Italian Restaurant located on International Drive in Orlando Florida. I contacted them by phone to see if they would be able to accomodate my 6 year old daughter, she is on a gluten free diet. I was completely shocked that they said YES! Not only could they accomodate her but they said that they stock gluten free pasta in there kitchen. Once we were seated at the restaurant the chef came to our table to give my daughter her options for dinner. The restaurant was very busy but the chef still took his time to assure that my daughter had a great meal. She ended up ordering gluten free pasta with a butter-parm sauce over chicken. She absolutely loved her meal especially the pasta. The pasta was made by Molino Andrini, a pasta company I had never heard of. We have since been back to the restaurant in January 2008 and we had the same great experience. It is an amazing feeling to dine at an Italian Restaurant that the entire family can enjoy including those on the gluten free diet. They do not have a gluten free menu but they can alter a variety of meal to be gluten free. We travel to the Orlando area several times a year and plan on visiting this restaurant each and every trip we make. |

| Liberty Tavern is a wonderful restaraunt for accommadating numerous food allergy or intolerances. My family (8 adults & 4 children) enjoyed a wonderful birthday party/reunion character dinner there. I have Celiac Disease along with a long list of other intolerances, my niece has wheat and diary allergies, and my father is diabetic. We had informed the restaurant that we were coming ahead of time and let them know of our needs again when we signed in. The chef came to our table and learned of all our needs and prepared separate food for me that I had requested (baked potato, steamed veggies, and fruit) which was delicious. This is a family style served restaurant with a menu of DECLARATION SALAD - Tossed Mixed Greens, served with our special Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing, PATRIOT'S PLATTER - A generous serving of roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese & rolls & gravy, DESSSERT - Warm cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. He also brought out wheat and diary free alternative for my niece and informed her what she could and could not have on the menu. Along with this he brought my father a sugar-free dessert alternative. It was so nice to be able to go out to eat as a family with our many restrictions and enjoy our time together without worrying. Oh, the Magic of Disney.

| This is a restaurant I went to many times during my visit to
Florida from Jan to March 2008. There are very few items on the
menu that would be off limits! The kitchen is very
accommadating in preparing many of their fish dishes. It is not a
place I would take young children. It is a little pricey but well
worth every penny. |

| Although I had dinner at the Yard House, it would probably be a
better option for lunch, as the dinner courses are hard to adapt to
be gluten-free. I opted for a green salad topped with Boar's Head
roast beef and turkey. It was fine, but the highlight of the meal
was being able to drink a gluten-free Redbridge beer, which they
had just started stocking the week before. What fun to be able to
enjoy a beer with friends! |

| This was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter himself was familiar with
gluten-free diets, since he's Irish, and Celiac runs in his family. I
ordered leg of lamb with potatoes and vegetables. It was on their
regular menu, and I could eat it as it existed. The waiter claimed
they have a lot of Irish customers, and they get requests for
gluten-free food a lot. My dinner companions -- who were not
dining gluten-free -- also had great meals. |

| While Italian restaurants aren't always a gluten-free diner's safest
bet, the chef at Positano's was willing to adapt some dishes to be
safely gluten-free. I had the best grey sole I have ever had in my
life -- the whole fish. The waiter even boned it in front of me. It was so good -- I can still taste it! Along with the fish, I had some vegetables and a salad. It was
great to sit in the atmosphere of an Italian restaurant and rest
assured I was not putting my gluten-free diet at risk. |
