Dino's restaurant in Washington, DC offers delicious Gluten-free options
Dino is a little piece of Italy nestled in the heart of Cleveland Park, Washington, DC, just across from the Cleveland Park metro stop on the red line. It is a favorite of many Washingtonians, consistently offering the highest quality Italian fare and dining experience. They converted their menus so they are clearly marked to show which items can or cannot be prepared gluten free. The resulting selection is substantial and quite tempting - the hardest thing will be deciding what NOT to have! (Hopefully they will add gluten free bread soon...)
The staff is quite knowledgable and helpful regarding gluten and every other aspect of the menu. Dino serves meats raised without antibiotics or hormones, fish recommended by the Monterray Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch, and farm fresh vegetables usually from the local area. I have never had a bad meal there - to the contrary, each one is delicious from start to finish.
Dean Gold, the Owner, is there most evenings and takes an interest in your meal, offering suggestions for what menu items might be particularly complementary or to your particular liking, including which of the gluten free options will taste best together. He is very knowledgable about their extensive and delicious wine list as well, and enjoys helping diners with selection. His welcoming attitude is infectious and infuses the entire restaurant with a family-type warmth.
Dino's design is elegant yet warm, and definately feels like a special night out. Dress is casual to "business casual." In warm weather, there is the option of dining outside and enjoying the bustle of Cleveland Park. There is also a lovely private room for 10-15 or so that is delightful for birthdays and special events. The half circle bar is a great place to talk wine with the bartender or catch-up with friends as you gather for a special evening. They have an email list and often offer specials on food and/or wine. Reservations are recommended, especially on the weekend. Enjoy! __________________
